Really frustrated as all the plans are coming together and then find out that the girl that is meant to be doing my hair and make up can't drive and thought I lived closer to town! She says unless she can be picked up and dropped off again she won't be able to do it, and I am not ferrying someone I am paying to pamper me around before my wedding, bridezilla moment!!! So now I need to find someone else, but the only problem is there is only one other I can find listed and she monopolises the whole area, which would be fine, but she charges nearly £300 for just hair! I am not paying that. Is it not normal anymore to go to a salon to get all this done? I would prefer someone to come to my house as I have lots to do on the morning of the wedding. Does anyone know of anyone in the Grantham area who is a mobile hair/make-up artist and can drive??! Any help would be appreciated, it is the one thing that is stressing me out now. xx

If I was her, rather than decline, I would say my travelling expenses are XYZ, then take a cab. Guessing that she has make-up boxes and equipment to carry around.

No haven't had a trial, so not even met her yet. But think she is only about 19 which makes me wonder if she can cope with my hair. I know that sounds unfair but I hate getting my hair done and I will only unnerve her with my nerves, lol. I don't even think it crossed her mind to charge travel expenses, but also she maybe was too cheap so just starting out with her business? All the wedding party are having to muck in on the morning to get the food done and flowers all arranged, we are doing it pretty much all ourselves, and with 3 kids, one of whom is an absolute monster, no one is going to have time to drive the 40 minute round trip. I will look on that site though, a place to start at least. xx

Ohhhh, well the one good thing about her being young, is that she is fresh and may have new ideas. But it doesnt sound good if she hasnt thought about the "travelling expenses".
Cant believe that the only other person local charges £300, thats shocking.

could you try a college? they are usally fairly cheap but also they know what they are doing try someone in their last year maybe? some of them will drive too! But a taxi is a good thing too, or a bus!

Iv ended up having to go to a salon as my hairdresser i had booked canceled me on the day of trial, it freaked me out as what if she canceld on the actual day, so lucky where my mum lives there is a salon across the road. x

Thanks Kaya, will have to phone and ask them. And that is lucky with the time left for you Mrsd2b, glad you got someone else. We live in a hamlet about half an hours drive from anywhere with a salon and really don't want to have to waste time driving about especially on a Saturday. x

Mrsd2b your story is frightening in a way but good you got back on your feet. I would panic if it happened to me, but I guess my sister who's MOH and hairdresser would have to do it in that case. So far she's refused to do my wedding hair as she hates my hair, its too thin for her to do anything with it
