My friend got married a few weeks ago but i couldnt make it to the wedding. Have seen her pics on FB though and she had exact same colours as i want (purple) and same flower (calla lily) so i need to change. So diasppointed but itl jus be a carbon copy of her wedding otherwise....
Thing is, i cant find another colour i like as much... I like the whole brown/cream thing but my daughter already calls me unvle Nick Nocks (a boring guy who is completely beige on some kids tv show) lol
Dunno what to do... I'd just picked all the flowers i wanted too (pics on profile) gona hav to change all that now. Quite lucky the flower lady let me down really... lol

I know how that feels. can you not change it to a little shade of purple and have lilys instead. I know it is not a great way to feel but there are opotions there.

the colour scheme i wanted was purple too. But nearly everyone is doing it now so it has put me off a wee bit. So now I am thinking of purple, lilac and dusky pink! just to mix it up a bit. And that palate of colours goes so nice together.
so why not still have your purple, but add another few colours? silver and black would go very well too!

I was just looking at some other bouquets and saw one made from these green cymbidium(sp) orchids that looks lovely. They have a sort of purple middle. I think i might go for that. Never really liked the colour green but these do look amazing
We started off wanting Purple, Silver and Black, then changed to Chocolate and Mint....it's now Champagne and Chocolate with antique roses which are in dusky pinks, mochas and creams. So I am pretty much going for the brown and cream option, but it's very vintage and can be complimented with pinks and whites.
Have a look in some wedding mags and on line for different colour ideas. You can still use purple, but who about a slightly different shade? Or even a lilac. You can still use calla lilies, but just in ivory. Plus, they are very popular flowers for Weddings at the moment.
There are only a certain number of colour to choose from and someone is bound to choose a smiliar colour scheme for you. As you didn't go to her Wedding its unlikely that she'll think you 'stole' her Wedding idea. Or the other alternative is to tell her how lovely her Wedding looked and that it's funny how you both have the same taste.

How about a different shade of purple and instaed of having two colours maybe having 3?? Or you could have different shades of purple?? As for the flowers everyone has callie lillys these days so as long as you go to a different florist and the bouquets are not exactly the same this shouldnt matter babe.
Don't forget your wedding isnt for a while yet, so everyone wont remember everything from her wedding anyway and even if they do are ALL her guests going to your wedding too??? I think no matter what colours ppl choose no two weddings are exactly the same anyway, after all your different ppl so are going to like slightly different things.

TBH the purple scheme is the popular choice NOW - what's to say its not going to be blue for winter, pink next spring and orange for next summer. You never know of the colour schemes - just go with what YOU and H2B want.
Not everything will be the same as your friends wedding - so what if the colour scheme is, the focus will be on you and your H2B for the day not the colour scheme.
There are many ways to arrange flowers how about adding purple flowers in the bouquet so its not just calla lilies or even choosing purple roses - there are plenty of ways to alternate what you want.
On another point talk to your friend and discuss whether its a problem or not.
The days are flying by, can't wait :)

Hun mine is Aubergine & Silver & my mate just got married and she'd picked the same colours & we didn't know BUT it was her wedding in a completely different venue to mine & there are ways of changing it slightly & I won't be changing anything cos mine is too close now.
Maybe you could make Silver or Gold the predominant colour and then have accents of purple. The cala lillys are extremely popular and are the only flower that comes in that colour - I'm having them with white roses. Don't worry about her wedding worry about yours. This is about you guys & if you want purple you have purple :) it doesn't matter. There are only so many colours to choose from anyway. You could always contrast the purple with green - I love those two colours together which would give a different twist to hers... or even Purple & Raspberry again making it different. Don't worry just have what you want xx

I'm having purple but having black and silver with it, most colours go nice with purple... even orange in the right shades, i'd say just add in another colour or two x

I wouldn't worry about it. This is YOUR wedding and I'm sure if you asked other people what they had there is bound to be someone else who had the same colors. There are only so many you can pick. I wouldn't change anything but stick to what you already had. Just explain to your friend how you had already chosen them colours etc before you saw her wedding.

Im pretty set on the green now... but i keep looking at golds/browns so who knows... lol. im just getting stressed thinking about it all now. I know its still a while to go but jus wanted to get as much done as i can know ifkwim...

I was always having green... Its my favorite colour so I had to have it... but I was going to mix it with pink.... but then H2B mentioned about having a brown suit.. so now we are having chocolate Brown and green.. Yummy....
