Hi well h2b is not the most confident infact hes a quiet shy fella, anyhow he doesnt want to do a speech and the best man hes picked wont do 1 either nor his dad! sooo i've got no one to do speeches, He also doesn't want to do a first dance, he keeps making jokes about doing the harlem shake but thats all they are jokes!( fingers crossed) has anyone got any ideas what i could do instead? just so theres not an awful silence at the meal and a wait for the dance floor etc, bit gutted really wanted it to be like a wedding and not just a party but bless him he really doesnt want too x

How about some entertainment in the evening in place of a first dance? A band or a singer, or even something like a magician?

My partner suffers panic attacks and anxiety issues, he hates the thought of issues, but will the help of his doctor he's undergoing counselling so he can make some form of short speech, as he knows it would mean a lot to me. Have you explained to your partner how much it would mean to you to hear how he feels about the day and you? Honestly, i think it's a little mean him not wanting to do anything! Ask him why he is so against it.
As for first dance, both me and my partner feel uncomfortable, so we're going to slow dance for a minute max, and then get the bridesmaids and groomsmen, ushers ect to all get involved as well, so it takes the edge of us.

Magicians are good, And there are a lot of entertainment ideas, but there expensive, compared to a heart felt speech and a bit of a dance.

I'd try and get to the bottom of why he's so against it.

A table magician would be good to do the rounds, we're also putting little personalised quizs on table with questions related to us, just as little joke/ice breaker between guests.

Otherwise could you make a speech? I am in place of hubby as he refuses lol

Could you not read something short but sweet to each other, Or have someone who will get up and say something like a moh or bm and they could start with something like how beautiful the bride looks today, Then you might not feel like you missed out as much. For the first dance could you have the wedding party in couples also dancing with you.

How about a couples dance? It's a good way to get people up on the dancefloor.

Personally, I'd be a bit gutted if h2b and my dad didn't want to do a speech...could he maybe write something else and have someone read it for him? A friend of mines husband has a really bad stammer when he gets nervous, so he pre recorded a speech on video.

How about doing a speech yourself?

    Xx

I agree with Laura. A couples dance that includes all the Wedding party perhaps? So BMs and their partners, Best Man and his. Parents etc?

Would your H2B's Mum do a speech?

As for first dance depends i. How you bith feel about it, if self concousness is a issue how about orangisng fo bms, udhers etc to dance to x

Thanks guys gonna have to do something, well orignally i was hoping fil would do a speech because my parents not going to be there, its 70% h2b guests so thought it would be ok because its his mates or family, think a serious discussion is needed to work out why and what can be done and ill show him your ideas, thanks again x

How about someone reading out some of your Wedding cards??
We had quite a few cards given to us the week leading up to the Wedding so get someone to read a few out instead of speeches??
