I didn't think we would have a honeymoon I have children from past relationship and was happy to just have the wedding night to ourselves as I get nervous leaving them for too long but hubby 2 be really wants at least a few days to ourselves. Was wondering if any ladies had been in same situation and if they had any ideas we are looking at FRI-MON or MON-FRI. Thanks in advance for any replies ;) x

There are a lot of resorts and cruises that provide childcare, is that an option?

Depends on where you want to go and do. New York is good for a short break.

I was going to say the same as Sam about New York! Or maybe a city break? xx

What about just staying in the uk?

We are going to a log cabin in Scotland with a hottub on the veranda and stunning views for five days.

    Xx

It really does depend on what you both enjoy doing, we're getting married in Gretna Green and we're having 10 days in Scotland, we both love scotland. If you fancy a quiet few days together you could go somewhere in UK, book a log cabin, a b&b or hotel in scotland, the Lakes or wales, or some of the suggestions above are great if you want to go abroad for some sun. x

Depends on what sort of person you are.... I loved Barcelona, its a really vibrant, lively city, not too far away, has lovely weather and lots of lovely boutique hotels..... I think Barcelona is the new Paris!! x

Seeing as you have kids it seems that you don't want to be too far away from them so I am in agreement with the others who are suggesting staying around the UK. There are some beautiful places here. Do you prefer the coast, the countryside or a city? Is there anywhere in the UK you haven't been to but have always wanted to go? Me I want to go to Edinburgh :-)

It depends what you're looking for. The Lakes, Yorkshire Dales or York are great for short breaks and not too far from you. Or how about Dublin or southern Ireland?

Thankyou ladies for all your replies. I've been googling today and found a lovely little cottage called bay view in Whitby it's beautiful right on the coast. We can just shut the world out or go on lovely walks. For what it costs we could probably go abroad but the peace of mind of being able to rush back to the kids in an emergency really is a plus point :)

Whitbys lovely - we got engaged at the top of the 199 steps by the abbey. We make a point of going a couple of times a year, it's gorgeous, especially first thing in the morning or in the evening. There's some great pubs too.

If you're going to the magpie, go to the actual restaurant - that's fab, but the takeaway is pants! Xx

Well bay view is definitely off, they want £775 plus a refundable £250 security deposit for Friday 4pm to Mon 10am. Not too sound cheap but we cud go to Morocco all inclusive platinum resort from Thursday to Tuesday for just short of a £1000 (that's our back up plan and tge one the OH is desperately trying to persuade me into) so back to the drawing board me thinks, feel like my happy balloon has just been burst :(

Have you looked into staying in Scarborough, or a cottage in the dales. There can be some good deals if you're willing to do the research/wait for them. I've seen deals fairly regularly on gr0up0n & travelz00.
Everything is really fairly priced. The Black Sheep Brewery in Masham has a restaurant and the food is delicious and fairly priced.

We booked the deal in January I think, and we were going in June - just keep an eye on the expiry dates and if your dates come up, do what we did and email reservations to check your dates are available for the deal before you buy the voucher ;-) Living social also have getaway deals too so keep your eyes out - you probably won't see the deals though until around 6 months before you go though - but we thought that was more exciting that way! Hubby originally wanted to take me to Portmeiron for our short break, so glad I spotted the Marrakech deal as the week we went we had horrific rain in the UK and it was 37 degrees over there!
