Hi I'm Katrina and I'm new to all of this. I only got engaged two weeks ago, and already I have found certain areas I don't understand. So basically I'm just looking for a bit of advice on how to plan a wedding on a sensible budget and not stress myself out anymore! Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you. X

Have you settled on a budget yet? DIY as much as you can as this will bring the price down and also having a weekday wedding would be cheaper. There's a brides checklist thread if you wanted to have a look. Happy planning x

Congratulations, what bits are u not understanding as will be easier to help knowing that. I struggled understanding the banns bit. I also found writing a list of what needs to be done the next to each one writing what we wanted to help get my head around it all x

Congratulations. My best tip is write out the guest list with your OH asap so you can look for venues that are the right size rather than falling in love with somewhere tiny and having to cut half your guests. DIY where possible and pull in favours from talented friends and family. For example, OHs brother is a graphic designer so has designed and printed all our invites etc x

Good luck Katrina. After budget and date you need to confirm venues and have a rough number of guests, as guest numbers might affect your choice of venue.
