Hiya girls. Bit confused about meal planning...
Getting married at 12noon, + pics taken + traveling = could be in venue about 3ish...
He wants just a buffet served around 4 o'clock...
Probbably most of the guests will be in register anyway, might be some that come only to evening part.
I was just thinking is it ok to have just a buffet? Should we split it in two maybe, so sweet stuff can be served later?
Dont know yet what I want... looking for some ideas/recommendations.
What would you do if on tight budget?
    Tnx a lot.

if you eating around 4 then you will probably need to serve some more food later on about 9ish if you still partying as people get hungry haha especially if the ceremony at noon! if you have a sit down meal usually these take a couple of hours but it entirely up to you what you choose. i know some people are having just buffets others are having both. we had decided on a sit down but i really want a hog roast but might be a bit awkward lol x

i hope that helps a bit and doesnt confuse you more lol (me a bit over excitable when it comes to chatting wedding haha)

If you want a buffet then i say go for it. Then maybe instead of having another one in the evening have something simple instead??
Wea re having a sit down 3 course meal at about 5.00 then seaving bacon rolls around 9.00ish so perhaps you could do something similar or someone on here is having mini fish n chips at her reception :-)

We are having a hot buffet at tables with our 80 wedding guests at about 3:30, then a hog roast in the evening for 200 at 8ish. We are also booking a chocolate fountain but are undecided on what time that will be, as i like the idea of it being instead of wedding cake, with photos of us at the fountain instead of cutting the cake, especially as i am not a big cake eater anyway but fruit dipped in chocolate is a big WIN!
H2b likes the idea of cheesecake wedding cake (actual cheesecake not cheeses stacked to look like a cake) so we shall see, but you get the general gist.

We're having a sit down meal then a buffet later on for the evening guests. I think it is entirely up to you and I think if our venue allowed it I would go for a big buffet. xxx

Have a split buffet so much more relaxed than a sit down and you arent judged by timings really. We had a bbq then a buffet was so relaxed and perfect for us

I'd personally ask for a buffet for x amount of people. Half to come out at 4 and half to come out in the evening. x

My friend had a formal buffet after the wedding in which everyone was seated and they did speeches etc. Everyone then took it in turns to go and help themselves to the buffet and sit down again etc. There was then another one later on for everyone and I think that worked well. You do need more than one lot of food though if you are having one early on as most guests will have just have had their breakfast so its a long time to go without food from the morning until 4pm. I should imagine they will then get hungry again later when the drinks begin to flow.

We are getting married at 2pm, sit down buffet at 5pm (should be finished by about 7pm) then evening guests to arrive from 7.30 to 8pm with a second evening buffet being served at around 8.30ish.

I think we have (finally!) decided today that we will have a fork buffet at 1.30pm, then a hog roast at 7pm. Also changing our day completely, going to hae seperate day and evening guests now, we wanted everyone all day but it was too expensive to feed them all!
