My h2b has recently lost his job & im only working part time so were struggling atm. We were thinking it would be a good idea to get our day guests to pay for their own meal & that would be there gift to us. But im having second thoughts as i think it sounds a bit cheeky..
What do you's think?

I think this is fine as it's less expensive than inviting people to a wedding abroad. However I would find it cheeky with a set menu. If I'm paying I would like to choose what and how much I'm eating along with checking the price

Ask a few of the people you'd invite what they think of the idea and if they don't mind then go ahead but like Kat said I'd want to be able to choose from a big list if I'm paying not a limited choice!
You could always put the wedding back a year to help you save up the extra if you haven't any deposits down yet! xx
Ps if you unrestrict your wall we can all friend you!
WARNING:
I say the first thing I think of!

Also if you unrestricted your wall we can see how long til your wedding which might affect our view points!

There is plenty of choice on the menu's & its cheap meals £12pp, ive asked a few people they think its fine.. im still feeling cheeky though lol x
As long as you give them fair warning on the invite I can't see the problem especially at that sort of price.

i cant see it being a problem at, Im asking for money instead of gifts from guests and asking the bridemainds and groomsmen to contribute towards their outfits

i feel cheeky about it to, but I kno everyone will understand, they coming to support u on ur day, so whats £12?! its a smile on your face and an amazin day x

Well I dunno if your situation is similar to ours, but our day guests are only family and a handful of friends anyway, so the people closest to you will know your situation and I'm sure would understand!!! xx

I think most would be happy to pay a reasonable price for a meal especially if they are family, if the response already seems ok then I'd go with that, maybe make a light laugh thing about it on the invites with a little ditty? x

Me and my h2b are totally skint as im not currently working and we have twin boys to feed/clothe etc so we are just having a evening buffet for our marriage. we have decided to get wed at 4pm so it doesnt seem too long til food! maybe that could be an option if you're feeling cheeky about asking them to pay? xx
