Right girls i need your help, we already live together and have all the household items people normally buy you for your wedding but we have no money for our honeymoon so i would like to do like my sister did and ask people for money instead of gifts so we could have a little holiday together, we know that people we are inviting dont have alot of money so are not expecting to get much but even a night in a hotel without the kids would be fab :) im just not sure how to ask everyone my sister put a poem in her invites asking for money but she cant remember it so i could get an idea of what to say so ladies whats your ideas on this subject?

You could search it in google... i don't think that people will be unhappy if you did this. We're asking for holiday vouchers from thompsons as like you we have everything x x

Ebay. There' are loads of poems on there with this in mind babe. Also search the catergories at the top as there is quite a few topics about this so might give you some ideas! :-)

I'm doing exactly the same hun.. I've found these lovely cash request cards that have a lovely poem on.. You choose the design and colour and even the poem. There is a great honeymoon one aswell :)... Not bad price either.

I think a poem is a good idea as just straight asking for money is pretty hard! I can't help you tho im not very good with words! or some companies do those things called 'send us packing' and a few similar ones where people contribute to your honeymoon rather than presents

thanks shellg17190 will take a look, its a hard subject to approach as i know everyone is skint at the mo but buying us gifts would be pointless unless it is a cage for my toddler lol he is being a horror today

I'm getting my invites from Vistaprint, so have ordered the following poem printed on a business card that coordinates with the invites: We are sending out this invitation And hope you will join our celebration If to send a gift is your intention In modesty we would like to mention We have already got a kettle and a toaster Crockery, cutlery and too many coasters So rather than something we have already got Please give us an addition to our savings pot But, most importantly, we request That you turn up as our wedding guest!

When shopping for a present please, dont be rash As the option is there to just give cash
We hope that you dont find our request to be funny But the decision is yours to buy a present, or just give money
Now you have the choice please do not fuss The most important thing of all is that you come and celebrate with us!

we are asking for thomson vouchers so that we can go on honeymoon, i will just put a small card in with the invitation asking for the vouchers, i dont think people will be offended as then they can pay what they want to pay and not get stuck with the most expensive item on the wedding list, we dont need another toaster anyway we have everything for the house, and i think people always struggle to think of things to buy you anyway so will be happy not to have to go to the trouble of thinking about it :) x

My sister found this one for my invitations, we are wanting money for honeymoon.
We know its not traditional Its not the way its done, but instead of a wedding list we'd like a bit of sun. Please do not think of us as rude please do not take offence we do not want to upset you that's not the way its meant we've lived together quite a while and all the bills are paid we've got our plates, our pots and pans our plans have all been made so if you'd like to give a gift to help us celebrate some money for a honeymoon we would appreciate.
