I won't I would leave it for 8 days unless you are renewing with the same company then just phone and tell them. My insurance company didn't want any proof of name change x

I was given the option of buying extra certificates prior to the wedding as they worked out cheaper than if I left it until after. I thought this better as I could get most places done at the same time then.

Some companies will accept photo copies!
My first marriage I got two copies of the certificate one to keep and one to send off and then I got 10 photocopies from the library and used those for those that didnt need the original

At our registry office we could buy as many certificates as we wanted - cheaper to pay for beforehand or on the day - but still able to get after the day just double price. I bought 2 and photocopied more (just need A3 size copier)
For me passport and driving licence wanted originals - car insurance wanted copy - vehicle registration didn't need any proof, just fill in name change section on the log book. Bank wanted original but was ok just to show a it to them at my branch. Credit cards wanted photocopy

Probably like a lot of official things, no blanket rule - each authority makes up it's own rules!
I think a lot of companies are understanding when you explain you are newly married and paperwork can't all just change over together on one day - it takes time.
Oh to be a man! Simples for them lol

Edit to add: Just a thought but you dont *have* to change your name at all - so actually you may be better to renew your insurance all in your single name - wait a week or two then change driving licence and all others after that? x

But then my driving licence will say colson....and my insurance will say philpott.
And I dont think you can do that.

As ive been told changing from philpott to colson they will charge me. So I was gonna start new insurance under colson.

Ah missed where you said they would charge you (pfft! bad them!) So yes would make sense to avoid rubbish charges.
You can do it ( have things in different names) so long as you are in the process of changing all to the same name and not doing it for fraud reasons

I didn't need to send my marriage certificate to car insurance company or to change on the v5 log book, i only had to send it to change name on driving licence, I only did it in the last 3 weeks and all has come back name changed fine.

I've changed my name already lol.
I didn't want a different name to my children and as we did things backwards I ended up getting a deed poll.
My passport is already in what will be my married name - and as passports don't stipulate Miss or Mrs I can book our honeymoon as Mr & Mrs Tomlinson
I guess I'll have to let all the other places know I'm now Mrs - although most places have me down as Mrs already ha!
My Insurance company just took my info over the phone. I only sent my deed poll to the DVLA and Passport agency. Nowhere else asked!
