by the way they are acrylic ones
CommentAuthorloubyscooby
Soak them off using nail varnish remover. Pour some in a bowl and keep dipping them in, it will take time tho. Good luck

Found something online ... will put link on your wall.
When I used to have acrylic nails and wanted to remove them I would cut them as short as possible and then just use a nail file in the rest of it. It was very time consuming, though.

Hi, im a nail tech... U need to get two bowls one that fits inside the other then boil some water and pour into bigger bowl then put small bowl inside with some acetone ( u can get from boots/superdrug etc) then put your nails into soak for 20 mins. The hot water will heat the acetone without burning u! And the acrylic will start to peel off it's a horrible job but it will come off then wash hands file and buff. Ta da
CommentAuthorUnknown
thanks gem! will have to go and buy a smaller bowl at lunch then as only hve a big one!
can you buy pure acetone then in asda? or can i just use nail varnish with it in.
also will it ruin my nails by doing it myself? xx

fab advice Gem! I have some shellac nails on at the moment and I have about another 10 days or so in them but wondered how best to get them off at home so i don't have to pay someone to do it!

what are shellac nails?
CommentAuthorGemLouise
not sure how to explain them....according to a website it means: It is a hybrid, meaning half nail polish, half gel. The product is thin and strong enough to be applied similarly to nail polish, but it is cured in a way that gives it great flexibility and durability. It also has the incredible shine associated only with gel nails.
I love them! They haven't chipped and I have had them on for over a week. I wash up, type all the time and constantly use my hands. They are awesome. Going to get them, or something similar, for the big day. Plus they don't damage your real nails in the same way acrylics do and they kinda protect the natural nail so it can grow properly.

When i have mine done, to get them off,
1st, rub vaseline or some moisturiser into your skin under your finger nails (around where your cuticles are) 2nd, soak your fingers in a bowl of strong nail polish remover, it take a while but you as it softens you can start to scrape the acrylic off, 3rd, once its all come off and the nail tips have come off, wash your hands then moisturise them...
I learnt how to do this and now i dont have damaged nails or skin. Its quite a long process with the soaking but it helps if you scrape the layers of acrylic off as it softens! xxx
Very very happy as Mrs Erica Trow

nail tech and beauty therapist trainer here i must must must intervene.................... ok dont EVER!!! soak your nails off with nail varnish remover!!!! although it has the acetone in that you need it also has a lot of other chemicals in and given chance to soak into your nail beds for that amount of time can cause a very very bad fungal infection..... you need pure acetone, you can buy it from boots and i think super drug....even off the bay of e although be vary of using anything other than british sites for it... (the chinese use illegal products hence the masks)
and dont ever file off a false set you bruise ya nail bed underneath through vibration!!!
also shellac is better known as calgel...... more expensive than a normal gel or acrylic but very very good product!!! x x x

you can buy acetate in a chemist, soak cotton wool in it put on nail and wrap in foil, then sit on them to keep them warm but it can take 30 mins or so x
soon to be Mrs Anderson!!!!!
CommentAuthorUnknown
just realised asda have a chemist so should hopefully be able to get it!
i dont think h2b is going to appreciate the smell of the acetone as he hates nail varnish remover smell or hair dye!! xx
CommentAuthorabby22
im a nail technician i work for nails inc!!
What ever you do, DO NOT put your acetone down the sink after!! fill bowl with toliet roll or cotton wool and but it in your outside bin, it will melt your drain if you put it down sink be warned lol i would go to your nearest sally salon service store for the acetone as boot or the like wont have the strong stuff you need! before you soak get nail clippers and take the extra lengh off, clip once on each side not straight across the nail. Remove top layer of nail polish off and buff top of gel away slighty to let acetone soak in then soak them remove after ten mins buff n resoak it will take you a good hour for your first time be patient and dont do it near wooden floor or furniture coz one little splash will ruin the varnish!! xx
CommentAuthorUnknown
thanks for telling me that as otherwise i would have put it down the sink without even thinking! def be doing it through the soaps then if it takes so long! xx

IM A NAIL TECHNICIAN LOL
right, get a glass bowl and pour some acetone into it. put some vaseline around the skin of your fingers otherwise the acetone dehydrates the skin and turns it white! leave in there for around 30 minuts and use an orange stick to start scraping them off bit by bit! and keep soaking them. normally i would put boiling water into a dish underneath to slightly warm the acetone up because it works faster. nail polish remover is not pure acetone so it will take longer! they will start to desolve very quickly. if you have a gel top goat over them, you need to file this off first because most gel top coats are acetone resistent and it will not soak off!
hope this helps :-) xx
CommentAuthorUnknown
i bought a bowl at lunch so am able to do the hot bowl thing aswell xx

it will work. just file the top of the nail off as im sure they would have used a UV cure topcoat which may be actetone resistant :-) and i dont know why people have this idea that acrylic nails ruin the nails.....its a complete myth!!!! the thing that ruins your nails is a lazy and inexperienced nail technician lol x
CommentAuthorUnknown
I have got them off and put nail strengthener on and they seem to be ok! Xx

avril as a fellow nail tech and a nail tech tutor/trainer i have to disagree hun, altho shoddy workman ship is the route of most acrylic damage..... it is not all..... acrylic is a heavy chemical to use on something delicate like ur nails and altho the damage is minimal as with anything if ur nails cant breath they will damage over time.... but obviously occasional sets wont do any harm so yea ya right if u have 1 set on n ya nails are damaged u need to change ya nail tech lol. x x x
