The problem is that me and my husband to be's family don't get on all that well and as you can imagine are not thrilled about the idea of their son marrying me. We're getting married on the 17th Sept next year but really i'd love it sooner. I don't think his family will come to Ireland (from england) for the wedding which is upsetting for him. the date is only so far away becasue his family had to travel so far, do we just do it in our own time and forget about everyone else? At the moment i do think it would make me happier, as this is stressing us both out when really it should be the happiest time for us! What should i do?? Cxx

see thats the thing he really is awful about going to his family about things! like he's kinda scared but wont admit it! so do we just send them an invite and say thats the place date and time and let them chose on the spare of the moment kinda thing?xx

both of you getting married is about about you and your fella. i understand family are important to people at important times in our lives such as the joining of two families in marriage, but if there is some sort of problem or dispute it should, at least for the day, be set aside for your sake. im not having the same problem, but my nanna, as small as she is lol, has been causing problems between my partner and me from the beginning. which of course has caused some upset on his side and also between my mum and me. but we've now decided to just let her get on with it and ignore her opinions cus at the end of the day it's what we want and not what she wants. so basically do what is best for you and your partner on your special day, not what anyone else wants. it's your time not theirs xxx
