its so easily done isnt it.
when I first started looking i was thinking about £20,000 for what i wanted but now just looking round everywhere before i book anything to get it down to about £10,000.
The venue i wanted was going to be £14,00 for 100 for ceremony and 3 course meal, then 140 for reception with buffet, didnt even talk about decoration, lol.
Have now been looking at a mansion which is actually the local council office! regstry office prices but you get a mansion for lovely pics and nice grounds too! for ceremony and hire of the room for reception, and registrar is going to come in at about £1000. hiring a caterer is cheaper than paying paying most venues that provide their own catering! was quoted £52 a head at the hotel i wanted, now being quoted £26-£34 a head. buffet at hotel was £16.50 a head, caterers are £8-£12. plus i can provide my own drink or hire their bar staff, so i can have my pink bubbly at £6.98 bottle and maybe wine on tables then hire their staff to use their bar which apparently is good priced drinks, unlike at hotels.
I think i can now keep to about £10,000 as I bargain hunt everything!!!

it does easily mount up hun, the cost of your wedding is pretty much what im paying just for my venue - its ridiculous, as soon as the word wedding is introduced prices go up tenfold!

On the other hand if you have everything that you want, and you have the funds then go for it :0)

It's soon adds up, ours will be 9K ish. That's with a bit of money behind the baf for free drinks, but doesn't include honeymmon. I'm still trying to cut down further so may get it less than that. You do what's right for you and your other half with the however much money you have to play with to get the day you want x

Nobody can say your being silly. At the end of the day It's yours and your husbands day so you do what's right for you. I could never afford to spend that much money but if I could then I would! :) so long as your not getting loans out or leaving yourselves in loads of debt then I say go for it And enjoy! :)

ClareE are you having arrival drink and drink with your meal or are you just putting money behind the bar? I hope you dont mind me saying but i personally think putting money behind the bar always gets abused by some! We are having a drinks package with our wedding. Which means everyone gets an arrival drink, 2 glasses of wine at the table with the meal and then a drink for toast. means everyone gets the same and no one abuses generosity of couple putting money behind the bar! x

Wow - tbh I couldn't justify spending that much money on a wedding or vow renewal. We had 19 of us for the wedding, 3 course meal all up in Gretna, then an all inclusive honeymoon in Malta in August, followed by an evening reception for approx 60-70 - and we managed to do all that for approx £5.5k.

If I had that kind of money spare I always think about all the other things it could be spent on which last longer than just one day (I even thought that about the money we spent on our wedding lol). It's down to personal choice though, I suppose.

mine will be a total of around £20000 spread over a year and a half of panning- i know its a lot but i am a strong believer in make the most of things as we only get one shot at life, and i really dont regret a penny i have spent! by no means are we rich and we have had to make sacrifices this year for it but i know it will be an amazing day! x
