I had a look through the garter threads and couldn't see one to tag along to.

My dad's wife who he has been with for over 20 years has offered me her garter, she let my sister wear it too.

I'm just a little confused, I mean if it's the one she wore for her wedding to my dad then thats fine, but if its the one she wore for my stepsiblings dad then surely thats just weird. I can't remember my dad's wedding, but it was only a quiet affair or so I'm told.

If it's a borrowed then can it still get thrown??

And how do you get out of peoples kind offerings if you really don't want to go with it?

I can see my mum being rather peed off that I am wearing my step mum's garter seen as tho I'm the baby of the family and where my dad was able to pay things for my brothers and sisters when it came to me there was alway's an excuse, "I'm retired now" "I have grand children now" "I bought a f off camper van to tour the country in and spent all the money I would have on you".

Please don't get me wrong I love my daddy to bits and I am so proud of myself for getting to where I am inspite of his financial input rather than because of it. But it is definatley a sore point for my mam, who constantly reminds me my dad has done more for the others. My mam keeps telling me I should not let dad walk me down the isle as he's not contributing to the wedding!

I only know coz I read the old posts. New H takes it off with his teeth and throws it to single men to catch. The blokey who catches the garter then takes the girly who caught the bouquet on a date.

My MIL2B was talking about the whole something borrowed, something blue thing and took me to her jewellery box and said I could choose something old to wear. Nothing in there was suitable as it was all gold. I just was honest and said none of it would match but thank you very much for the kind offer, it means a lot. Problem solved! You could just tell her that you are having one made with your wedding details embroidered on it, I got mine done like that and its a lovely personal thing that I will keep forever.

Not really having that many single people coming to the wedding so throwing the bouquet and garter seems a bit pointless to us.

Besides my bouquet is being placed where my mums ashes were spread. Not really thought about the garter yet though.
