So after the drama of Kissing company coming out to the house and i got confused over sending my engagement ring off too them and then a 2nd company coming who did a 3D CAD drawing but more expensive. I actually only wanted a 9ct gold band yet prices were over £400 from both companies for mine, very expensive !! We popped into Jewellery Quarter (Birmingham) on Sunday afternoon and i brought my ring. The goldsmith took my engagement ring out the back and knocked up a quite sample in silver so i could see how it looks and it is perfect, who needs fancy CAD machines and being stuck in wax but actually just a talented goldsmith with time on a Sunday afternoon?! Sample below of how they look together and now the real one is being made in gold for £124 - bargin !!
So for anyone wanting a recomedation i 100% urge you to go to the JQ as good prices, plenty of choice and happy to be haggled down.... now to buy H2B's ring....

Wow thats great, your E-ring gets more and more stunning everytime i see it!! Haha you beat me to it going to the JQ! We were replanning on going on 10th but got to babysit for his niece and nephew now!! Grr!! i want to find my ring! I think i know what we're having but finding the talented goldsmith to get the nice prices would just do it for us :D Congrats :D xxx

Thanks Lula. I 100% recommended the JQ, it was good and so much choice and you speak direct to the goldsmith and not a sales rep from a company plus going straight to the company so save money as cutting out the middle man !! xxx

Yeh Millz, love the JQ and so glad its pretty much on doorstep! Its really good for its price too, cause even though your technically getting a bargain financially your not getting a bargain in its quality or durability etc! My E-ring is a simple princess cut solitaire style however my OH got the best clarity/quality/cut/metal for a better price... from the JQ. he could of spent a little bit more on a bigger diamond off High St (i used to always comment i wanted a rock!) but would of had to go for a much much lower quality/clarity/cut/metal for it! and wouldn't of had the proposal around it!
but the JQ is definitely the place to find without having people coming out to see you or bombarding you with everything!
Natalie, where are you based? you could always train it down, make a day of it? Go to the JQ then go into the Bullring for some shopping etc? Its also definitely worth it as its the heart of the jewellers really, you go straight the source as it were! xx

Mine came from Newey's but hundreds of jewlers there so you just wonder around the shops to see what you fancy. It was good fun but Sunday's are quieter as a few shops are shut xxx

I found the same thing: we had a visit from the same company you did, and I have to say, I wasn't overly impressed. They have a big range, but I didn't feel 'right' about using them for a custom ring, as to me, it's important to meet the person who will actually be making it, not just a sales rep. I also found them REALLY expensive: they quoted me £900 for a custom-made diamond ring; I'm going to go with a jewellers in Hatton Garden who are making it themselves (I saw them working while I was there, which I liked), and I'm paying half the price. I also get to be much more involved in the design process.

This has got me thinking, I've got an appointment with the kissing company in January but I love what they've done with your ring. I live 3 hours away but have got a weekend planned there next June so as I've still got 18months to go think I might put off getting the ring until we can go to Brum to have a look. But I just cant bring myself to place the order! I think its a lot to ask even though it would be fitted to the ering, so might take a trip to Birmingham and see what they can do.

That is really expensive my H2B ring is £570 quid and its a 6mm band in palldium and its got engraving for free.
