Booked for cake tasting and consultation this weekend - cant wait. Just hope they can create what I have in my head!

Hubby has also officially asked his friend to be best man :-)

Went to NEC wedding show at weekend and tried on loads of dresses to get an idea of style I like. Definately liking the lacy, sparkly type with belt and chapel train. My mum liked me in a big puffy number but it wasnt really me (see pics below - not great quality/poses - excuse the face lol!)

Things are slowly progressing. Had our cake consultation today, discussed what we want and tried some flavours; thinking lemon, vanilla and Baileys :-) Also had our cake topper arrive yesterday and so pleased with it, its a Willow Tree one, I love the statues and collect them so it is perfect as a keepsake after.

Also went to suit hire shop with hubby to get an idea of the style/colour he might want so now he has a good idea of the type of thing he wants when comes to sorting them out.

And......hubby got his ring :-) its a lovely old style with three small diamonds in. Its different and suits him. He didnt want plain band and he doesnt have a job where he needs to worry about jewellery so no restrictions. I try and get pic on later.

Next on my list is sorting out invites and booking in for trying on some dresses - which needs to be in new year after my exams!

    Bridesmaid dress front runner
    Bridesmaid dress front runner

This is the current front runner for bridesmaid dress. Two of my four bridesmaids have tried it and approved so far. Others are trying it early March. If they like it I may well order soon.

Shop said dresses are decommissioned all the time so if I place an order and its due for decommission they will let me know so they can measure up and order in straight away then, otherwise they will measure up nearer the time, which is good as one of my BMs is pregnant and due in August!

Right needed somewhere to note our current song choices list.....

    1. Walking up aisle - Jason Mraz - I won't give up
    2. Signing the register - You're so Cool from True Romance (its a kooky instrumental piece) and Queen - Best friend
    3. Walking back out- Jackie Wilson - Your love keeps lifting me higher
    4. Father/daughter dance- I loved her first by Heartland
    5. First dance- Elvis Presley - Wonder of you
    6. During the meal - just a CD of ibiza chill out or a complilation of our ceremony songs
    7. During photos - probably wont have any songs as arranging magician during photos but may have a CD playing in background
    8. While guests arrive - again, CD if we don't book violinist or singer
    9. Entrance as Mr and Mrs to reception - Stevie Wonder - Signed, sealed, delivered

Evening we have booked the resident DJ. I doubt he's 'amazing' but we're not too fussed how it looks, as long as it gets people dancing. I wanted a band originally but OH said no

Have sent our save the dates. YAY!

Ummmming and ahhhhhing over booking our date with the florist ive found. Its so hard as you obviously wont know if they are 'up to stratch' until the day. Guess taking the plunge is the only option ha ha!

Been on the look out for some shoes and fallen slightly in love with these custom made ones........shame they are $395!

Have had a busy few days getting a few things sorted. Have contacted an electric violinist and spoken with the guitar player regarding playing at ceremony, just waiting for quotes.

Also found some lovely examples of flower arrangements I might have, but in pinks, peaches and ivory.

Have also thought 'sod it' and decided to get the shoes in the picture in my post above. Will get them in 4 inch heels and ask them to add lace from my mum's wedding dress and pearls from my mum's necklace. My special treat to myself lol.

OH and I have also managed to agree some more songs for the ceremony/day and also to have a family holiday in Disneyland (yay) followed by a few days in a cottage/lodge somewhere together for honeymoon. Feel like I'm on a role with the decision making.

Booked to see MY dress for first time end of July (want to lose some weight before trying it for first time) and giving notice appointment end of August. Time is flying by.

Ok, so thought its about time I updated this, as we've made some final decisions on ALOT of aspects of the wedding recently, so good to get it down somewhere.....

    BOOKED/BOUGHT/SORTED:
Colour scheme/theme - fuschia/orange/ivory and music/movie theme. We will be using CD/song covers for our table names and posters of our favorite movies will be splashed about (tastefully) mainly on welcome table and all over our post box.

Venue - beautiful Georgian hotel in Wiltshire with its own vineyard and rooms on site. Have provisionally agreed the 3 course menu with two choices per course and will arrange a tasting nearer the time.

Registrar - provisional booking made and have given notice - eeeek!

Favour boxes & ribbon - have these in storage.
    Favour boxes (W1524742xAE01B)
    Favour boxes (W1524742xAE01B)

Centre piece vases and wicker hearts - have hurricane vases in storage with wicker hearts. Need to get one more though as potentialy more guests than we anticipated! Need to sort out floral aspect with florist.

Bridesmaids gifts - have sterling silver necklaces and earrings in storage. Will also be getting a little BM Box together for on the day consisting of dressing gown, heel pads, thank you card etc

Mine and hubby's rings - bought and tucked away in storage

Photographer - booked. Will meet again nearer the time to discuss finer details. Lovely married couple.

    Wedding insurance - sorted.

Videographer - booked. Will discuss details nearer the time. Have not met in person but his work online looks excellent and he sent through various examples for review, which were exactly the type of informal video we wanted. Hopefully he will come up with the goods.

Cake - having a bespoke 3 tier cake with lace/quilting effect and flavours; vanilla, Baileys and lemon similar to one below but with pink and orange two tone flowers and ribbon

    Wedding Cake.jpg
    Wedding Cake.jpg

Hair/Make-up lady - booked. Will meet for trial next April/May

Magician - booked for during photos. He won the National Wedding Awards 2013 for Alternative Entertainment, and came recommended by our photographers, so hope he's as good and charming and he seems!

Caricature - booked for early evening reception. His works looks fab and he's very local - plus pictures after can work as a 'gift' to the guests. It was this or photo booth. We might just add some silly bits around the venue for crazy pics.

Save the Dates - most have now been sent to day guests.

My dress - I ordered Giovanna Marie by Maggie Sottero. Absolutely love it and looked even better than I remembered when tried it on. Just needs some minor alterations around the bust and hem. Also managed to sort out my headdress and shoes while I was trying it on. Have ordered the headdress - just saving for the shoes as they are quite expensive!

Headdress/jewellery - got my headdress and will be wearing my nans pearls with a mtaching bracelet.

Venue dressing - have booked a good local company to add some ceiling draping and mood lighting to the reception and disco rooms. Hopefully will look as good as it does in my head lol!

    STILL TO BE DONE/BOOKED:
Suits - hire from Moss Bros nearer the time

Shoes - fell in love with another pair of VERY expensive shoes. Am hoping I get them with my work bonus - but still looking for cheaper alternatives at the moment.

Bridesmaids dresses - Dessy 6680 in Tutti Frutti to be paid off monthly - when 50% paid can be ordered. Two of my BMs are having their first babies in August/October so need to leave it as late as poss to actually order in their sizes.

Flowers - Have now decided on arrangement (see pic below). BMs will have similar, smaller bouquets, with more peach.

    Wedding Bouquet.jpg
    Wedding Bouquet.jpg

    Mothers gift - likely bouquet

Dads gift - train experience or Orient Express, something along those lines

Honeymoon - family break in Disneyland followed by a couple of nights in 5* hotel in UK.

Invitations - have a design picked out, just need to get myself together and make them.

Bowls of retro sweets - will sort couple weeks before

Scatter crystals/quiz/bubbles/music note paper hearts/petals for tables

    Seating Plan – DIY

    Table place settings - DIY

Décor (pom poms, Chinese lanterns) – Will be hanging these from the tree outside with fairy lights in the hope of good weather and getting some nice evening shots with OH

Tea lights – borrowing friends for tables

White candle sticks for ceremony room - borrowing from friend

Mirrored plates - borrowing from friend

Manicure/french nail polish night before - need to make arrangements nearer the time

Also had my dress fitting last Tuesday, where I met with the seamstress to make alterations. Took my shoes, jewellery and headpiece along and SO excited to see the final thing at the end of this month!

Have also had my hair and make up trial last Friday too, so pleased with the result (sorry didn't get many good pics) and looking forward to recreating it on the day. Ive gone for light smokey eyes with a 50's spin on an updo. Eeeeek!

Hubby has his stag do last Friday at Brighton Races, followed by a night out in Brighton. Seems they enjoyed themselves. I was slightly miffed as he confessed to having had a private dance at a strip club, but I guess its a 'right of passage'. Was slightly upset as I had said I didn't mind him attending a strip club but absolutely no private dances. He said he didn't remember me telling him this (?) but its done now, so onwards and upwards. My hen in 2 weeks. YAY!

Thanks. Our theme is music/movies so wanted something a little different, although I'm not sure guests will get the reference as most 'personal touches' are music related ha ha!
