so i was just talking to my mum as she never come with me to pick dress or come to shop with me to pick it up so when i have been trying it on i have sent her the pics

first she says to me i need to change my hair colour as dont look right with dress

then today she said do you want me to be really truth full and i said yes she said but i dont wont to upset you i said it was ok

i dont like the dress its two sizes too small its doesn't do your figure any justice, who told you it looked nice in shop i replied myself it fit me ok in the shop, vicky my moh and loads of costumers i think the one i tried on in shop was a diffrent size
it is not tight on the body when i wear it it just seems to sit on my hips funny but im waiting to have it fixed she then said well not really 1 would of bought one for 200 for you also it wasn't the only shop i would take it back and demand a refund or exchange but thats me i said to her a lot of people have told me it is very nice i like the dress i just need it taken out she then said the back of the dress shouldn't be that wide of ribbon its not letting it out its miles too small i told her it was a uk size 12 and im a 12/14 she then said they maybe have but are they really being honest im not being horrible then she said no its too small tke it back or give me the phone number and i'll phone them

im now only 46 days away from my wedding and she has not done anything to help me with the wedding all she has done is given me money for the dress i have not seen her since boxing day and wont see her to my hen party she dont even want to come to me when i get ready

I didnt want to read and run.

My mum never wanted to come dress shopping with me! It was just me and my bridesmaid shopping, Took me months to find my dress as i knew what i wanted it was just finding it.
I found my dress (Bonny bridal 106 - not sure if i can say that) My parents come with me to pay the deposit and she said she hated it, where my dad liked it! My mum was putting holes if all of it!

I put the deposit down that day, Because its my wedding and not hers and its what i wanted and i thought i really dont care if shes hates it that must as im the one wearing it onthe day!
My mum hasnt done nothing but moan about the wedding (Shes even changing things at the reception without telling me) as its not her way!

If you love your dress and your happy with it! I wouldnt worry what anyone else thinks its your day, x

Aww Hun I really feel for you. Unfortunately I can't relate cos my mum actually picked out the dress that I've gone with but even so, there's something about weddings that make a girl look to their mum for approval on things. I know I have with most things. If you love your dress 100% stick with it. If you think that there's an inkling she may be right then you still have a bit of time to sort an alternative out x x

thank you mrs brown to be she just phoned me and just said its the shops fault as she thinks they measured me up wrong as the sample on i tried fit me very nice but they one i had made for me is a bit tight in some places

me and my mum are not very close im trying to watch what i eat and workout so that i can fit in my dress nicely to but she did say to me if im happy with it that's what that matters she just knows im a worrier and not confident

she is more angrey at the shop rather then the dress she said she thinks they have mad a mistake and need to fix it

Hi, oh dear, that's a real shame on top of the problems you've already had over the dress! I'll echo what has already been said in that if you like the dress then that is all that really matters, although I can understand that you will be disappointed about what your mum is saying! Personally, I think you look lovely in your dress, put everything out of your mind and have a wonderful day! Your h2b will love seeing you in your dress and everything will be worth it, cx.

It always hurts a bit when mums are brutally honest.

She has her points though, I'm surprised the shop didn't alter the dress to fit you better cause it does look very tight and uncomfortable. I'm also inclined to agree that your hair colour does clash the the dress colour a bit.

Oh hun - if you're happy with the dress then wear it! I know it has caused you a lot of problems so if you're now happy with it and getting it repaired then stick with it!

If you're really not happy to get married in that dress then I agree to go back to the shop and try others on and demand that they exchange it. You still have time, you have over a month xxx

looking at the pics it does look far too tight in places. If they measured you and got it wrong then it is their fault and they should rectify it at their own cost. If they refuse then threaten them with trading standards (usually does the trick with most businesses). If the sample one fitted nicely you could request they give you that one at a reduced cost instead, it would need dry cleaning and pressing but at least it would fit and you would feel comfortable.

How far away is the shop? can you not get a taxi or a bus, or maybe a friend could take you there?

Try speak to the Asst./Deputy Manager as the Manager is on holiday and ask if they can exchange it. If they will then you can try and organise someone to take you up there. As I said before, if I have a Saturday that becomes free I will take you myself and will let you know!

An exchange for one of their sample wedding dresses that is one you are happier with would be fantastic. It's your wedding day and you need to be happy and comfortable with what you're wearing. Biggest day of your life and it will stay with you forever!

Can you ring them to discuss it then, ask what measurements they have for you etc check they are correct? if they have got it wrong it's their fault, it's like a shop giving you a size 5 and a size 6 in the same box they would have to change it at their cost! no matter whether it's meant to be a bridesmaid dress or anything! The only other thing is you could turn to the internet? Sell your dress perhaps and get one off the bay of e or light in the box? even high st stores, even there's some gorge dresses on little woods you could pay off week by week? xx

You know yourself that it needs to be altered, judging by your pics I think it will look lovely once it fits right. I can't believe your mother has done this so soon before your wedding, you must be gutted. I personally don't think you have that much to take out. Have you got any seamstresses nearby. I found out the other day that there is one near me who is really cheap so ask around. Failing that a friend of mine is getting married on Friday and 2 weeks ago realised her dress was uncomfortably tight so she did something I would never normally recommend. She did the slim fast diet and now fits nicely into her dress having lost 6lbs. The problem with it is she's eating like a rabbit now to stop the weight piling on because it does at twice the rate.

I hope you find a solution Hun because I would be feeling like poo if my mum said that even if I knew deep down that it looked good it's the niggling doubt.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013

For the US sizes, to convert to UK sizes you need to add 4. So a Size 0 is a UK 4, US 2 is UK 6, US 4 is UK 8 etc.

A couple of other ladies on here have been blunt, and to be completely honest I agree with them. I get the feeling you're not 100% happy. If you are then great, have the rip fixed, wear the dress and don't worry about what your mum says.

If you're not then it's up to you to sort out - I know money is tight but it's either sort something out to get it exchanged/altered or wear it and make do.

Ignore what the label says, there is variations on every brand, and every dress. I can go from a size 8 to a 12 in one shop.
