Hi ladies, i have a dilema, whilst watching dont tell the bride last night with my h2b, he commented on how lovely the brides dress was, it was a very plain straight dress, he said he would love me to wear something like that! I have not got the figure for a straight dress to start with and i want some sparkle and detail on my dress, i have not been to try any dresses on yet but i would never imagine that i would like a plain dress! What would you ladies do? choose a dress you know h2b would like to see me in or a dress i love?

I'm sure h2b would be happier seeing you confident and comfortable :) my h2b didnt think much of any dresses - no comments, thought they all looked the same etc etc until he saw one in a shop window - not the same but fishtail like mine - and said he didnt like it lol ahhh well... we'll see if he likes it on the day as I love it :) x

This is hard to answer without knowing you or your h2b.
I have my very own mind regarding my clothes - I do like h2bs opinion ofc but I would not wear something just to please him but I feel uncomfortable in it. And mostly h2b loves ME in whatever I am wearing. Do you know what I mean?
It's difficult - gut feeling I'd say he won't care because he just wants you looking beautiful and you will look beautiful to him anyway. But if he has a serious issue with big blingy dresses - then it might be a problem. Why don't you ask him sneakily if he really hates them or would just prefer the other one? I for example would be deeply upset if h2b would wear a tails suity with a lilac waistcoat or along these lines but I wouldn't mind if he won't wear my most favourite outfit but one he feels comfortable in and I don't hate.

Go with a dress you love, your h2b will soon change his mind when he sees you in it and will probably forget all about his original dress choice. I sometimes worry h2b won't like my dress, but I don't think they really care as long as you are happy. If you love it he will. xx

I think that's a very good point - if you have confidence you look good in a potato sack. If you hate the dress he loves and have no confidence it will show.

Dan said that he imagined me in a short lace dress ... I had a long chiffon one. I did try on a lace dress but I was so uncomfortable in it. I asked him afterwards if he liked my dress and he said it was beautiful. You'll be much happier in a dress you love xx

Yup, get the one you love - he's probably just panicking and thinking along the lines of MBFGW dresses with fibre-optic butterflies or something mental...if you're in something you love you will look a million dollars and he'll love you in it :)

My h2b wants me in a certain style and although it is one I will consider it's not my dream style. I want a big princessy dress and he really doesn't want me to wear something like that. I've just explained to him that I won't know "the one" until I see it and it could be completely different to both our chosen styles. I think you need to try dresses on and see what you are drawn to. x

well i'll be honest, I love the first one! I went with a dress that I knew adam would like. I didn't want much bling, but adam particularly doesn't like bling as he thinks it looks tacky. Our situation is basically that Adam really isn't fussed for getting married and is only doing it because he knows how important it means to me - its not that he doesn't want to marry me, he's just apathetic about the whole thing! So because of that, I really really want him to think I look nice, so I got a dress I knew he'd like - but I like it too :o) Go with what you want to wear and whichever you like the most - but I don't personally agree with just getting whatever you want with no regard to what h2b might like, its his day too :o)

My advice is to trying on a selection of different dress style when you do go dress shopping as you will then get an idea of style you like and what suits your body shape.Although he says he like that dress style, if you tried it on and he seen what it looks like on you there is the 50% chance that actually he thinks something else would suit you. I agree with all the above comments, you will know the one when you see/try it and he will think your gorgeous whatever dress your in. : ) xx

Although I also think it depends on what's more important to you. If you're going to look back at your wedding/pics and feel regret over not wearing the style of dress you really wanted then you should go with what you prefer.
I don't have a dream dress and so I'm happy to go with what H2B likes, as long as I like it too. I know I'll feel extra special knowing for sure that he loves my dress and will be blown away by me in it. I don't like the thought of surprising him with something that he may well think looks ridiculous...
All depends on how much your h2b's opinion means to you I guess!
