Hi laura, I think yours is great, There is a couple of ladys on here who have made there own. I think guests will love the fact there made by the bride even if there are not perfect. Im trying to make my own but my first go i didnt have a clue what i was doing so i started a second groom(pics in album). I brought das clay (really cheap), Not knowing how hard it is to use, My first go took me about 5 hours lol But most of that was thinking how i do it, My second go took about a hour as i knew where i went wrong on the one before, Couldnt work out how to make the jacket lol but realized you add the arms after (doh) With the clay i used i can add to it at any time even when its dry so i still need to add the arms and head. (I am not looking forward to doing h2b hair as i dont know how to) Did you use filmo clay if so how much did that cost you to make.

mrs x2b i know what you are saying took me forever just sat thinking about how! i used air drying clay to make up basic body , head shape then used fimo to "dress" her . this works out far cheaper than all fimo as air drying clay is cheap plus gives you a good base to work from. i spent £10 on fimo , £2 each in h ObbY cr@ft black, white, blue, brown and skin colour. and the air drying clay was £2.50 for a block . got plenty to make the groom and will still have leftovers, the groom is going to be a little more difficult dor me as i want to make his leg up on a football so that means making proper legs which obviously didnt need to do for the bride.

i just want to say i am really not artistic or crafty most of the things i do make take forever as i have to keep going to get them looking half decent but its worth it for me as i want home made wedding thats very personal (not to mention saves a fortune!)

One BIG day will lead to lots of little happy days !!

Laura, Im the same i love diy but it takes me time too. I have made a few things for the wedding as i like that personal/handmade feel aswell. I have only started the groom and did think would it of been easier to start the bride first. Iv sent you a friends request so you can see my pics of both grooms. Iv used das clay its like £4 for a big block but i was finding it real hard to use,it kept cracking and i found it hard to shape but got there in the end. I never thought to use both may do that with the bride. With filmo clay do you use anything than the clay. I found with das i had to use metal rods to hold legs to body and legs to feet as it kept falling apart lol I just used the bendy coat hangers And even then the feet were driving me mad as they kept falling off.

Laura, Thanks, The frog is still ok but i need to finish him asap as my mushrooms are no good anymore(doh) i looked at them last night and mould had set in(not good i used loads of salt as well), Its ment to stop them getting mould) Now im worried about my table plan. (tree) as i started to paper mache that, so i think i will leave it until a month or so before the day, so it dont have time to get mould. Just lucky none of it has cost me anything yet as its all just cardboard and paper and flower lol, But i think i will try wallpaper paste now as iv heard it stops mould from growing in anything you make. The clay groom i just cut a square for the shirt, 2 bits for the collar and a square for the tie and 2 rectangles for tie to go side by side, cut the front of a waist coat so 2 bits and a rectangle for the coat (I spent ages trying to work out the shape for the coat lol) I couldnt work out how to make the collar on the coat so left it up, My problem now is the head i cant work out how to make it, Its driving me mad. I just dont get it. But im going to keep trying.

i didnt do a neck it was to small an area to make them stable so i shaped the heads almost oval then used half a cocktail stick pushed in to hold them on so they dont have to be squashed down on top if you see what i mean? think people will certainly have a giggle at them and i love the fact nobody in the world has them :)

Is that dress an Alfred Angelo one? The train looks very like mine, except I've gone for champagne.
