Help???? I had big problems chosing my bridesmaids because in a big group of friends so told them i couldnt have any of them as it would not be fair on other friends. In result of this i have picked my sister and my brothers girlfriend. Im so upset because neither of them can bother coming for a fitting or help or jst be there. Can you get rid of youre bridesmaides and pick someone else??? Or is it too cheeky?? xxx

You can definitely get rid/sack your bridesmaids! I am having 7 bridesmaids and 2 flower girls. I thought it might look stupid with so many, but I looked at loads of photos of weddings and it actually looks really good with loads of bridesmaids.

I'm thinking of sacking my MOH, I'm been thinking it over for about a week or so and not got the guts to do it so far but I really need to, she's useless and done nothing for me, wouldn't even come to pick dresses she just told me her dress size and said just buy one :-( So yes, you can sack them and pick other people, it's your day you have to have the right people xx

I have no idea how I'm going to do it but she's been giving me huge reasons to sack her, she wouldn't even arrange my hen do and has said she's not going to my hen do now my sister in law has organised it yet she's b1tching about me because I said I can't afford a night out in London (I live in Bristol) for her birthday! Her daughter is a bridemaids, her youngest son is a page boy, her two other son's aren't anything but she's told them I'm buying them suit's.. so basically her whole family are having a day out on me for nothing and all she's done is b1tch about me and not helped at all. Arghhhhhhhhhhhhh.. I'm going to tell her I can't afford to buy the other two boys suits and if she wants them she'll have to buy them but as for sacking her I just have no idea how! Thats what annoys me it was my very close friends wedding not so long ago and even tho i wasnt a bridesmaid i knew she didnt love me any less but i still helped her with everything. Your friend should understand it your day!! Its the only day it is actually about you and you only lol. Thats the way i see it anyway. Ohhh i really dont kno.... Think i will just say i cant afford. i can only afford one adult BM and my 8 year old is FG. im feeling a bit miffed at the moment as BM is in army and ive been really flexible with her regarding dress etc. she told me she was going to Kenya on an exercise this month but shes been at home for over 2 weeks.
im a tad annoyed as i keep thinking she could of spared me one day so i can go over her outfit hair etc. and it concerns me now she wont be around for the hair trial etc.
am i being selfish? i wouldnt of bothered if she was off somewhere like afghan but this is just a standard exercise and ive tried to be accommodating as much as poss, also my oldest friend is presuming i will ask her to be BM as i was for her, and now i feel ive made a mistake!

I have a feeling that im going to be in this situation with my MOH soon, lately she has been difficult to get hold of, rarely answers the phone, never calls back, doesnt come round. All our conversations lately have started off with her saying 'sorry i missed your calls..." and thats just her being my friend with out the MOH stuff! We have been friends for over a decade and always said we would be each others MOH but now she doesnt seem that interested, although i know if i was to 'sack' her, it would probably end our friendship. Im just hoping that when the date gets closer and she can do practical things to help she will step up to the mark. Really difficult situation and i do feel for you, hope you get it sorted soon xx

I think I would sit them down and say you need their help and really lay it on thick as to what you need them to do such as the number of fittings they are going to need, their duties up to the wedding and dont forget their duties on the day such as helping with your dress, etc but lay it on! Tell them you need their committment to the wedding but if they feel it is too much for them you would not mind if they decided they could not manage it! I think some BM think it is just a good way of getting a nice frock and a free feed out of a friend...not good!!!!

I would say yes you could sack them end of the day its YOUR day not theirs, and if their not making any effort then yes! Although have you tried sitting them down and talking to them? they may not realise how much its upset you :). If that fails yes sack them! xxx

Of course you can demote them to guests. Explain to them that as bridesmaids they should be available to support you, and you don't feel that they have enough time in their lives to fulfil that role.
One of my bridesmaids paid for her dress, one lives in South Africa and has the expense of coming over here (althoough she offered to pay and I refused) and the other has recently lost her job, and although she has found another one it is paying a lot less, so I can't ask her to pay for her dress, but if she still had her well paying job I would definitley consider asking her. People who have already got married have a much better idea of just how much it all costs.

Mrs Walker 2b - I cannot believe that your friend told her kids you'd be paying for their suits! I honestly cant get over some people! I try to put myself in the position of guest or bridesmaid - I'd never expect that my son would even be invited, never mind having his outfit bought lol it just amazes me that some people are so bold as to expect things on your wedding day!
