Hi me and h2b are thinking of getting one of his friend's bands to do a set for us at the night do but to save on costs we were thinking of just making a playlist of loads of songs we both love and putting an ipod or CD for the night instead of a DJ. Will this idea work or do you think it's tacky??... Has anyone done this?? or seen it done and how did it go? x

I'm planning on putting music on an ipod, as we are camping it will be awkward to get a dj. Bil2b is a dj, so no doubt he will make something up for us. xx

Clarey - if you're going to make up your own CD/iPod you should check whether there's a proper PA system at your venue to play it over. My venue doesn't have one, so I would need to hire all the speakers and everything if I wanted to do that.

If you have the facilities like DrunchPunk says then go for it! I think it will be good, more personal if you are choosing the songs. We are sending little forms with our invites asking guests to choose 3 songs each they would like to have played at the reception

Thanks DP never thought about that but no doubt my h2b would have lol...
Celi.. That's a good idea asking the guests to pick. Might have to steal that idea!
I just thought it might be a cheaper option unless the venue comes with a Dj in the price lol x
