I don't dislike mine but I find it very hard to get on with her sometimes. She is a very reserved person and it can be hard to have a conversation with her. She also has a habit of only telling h2b if something has been said that she doesn't like or got upset about rather than just telling me, which can be annoying. And she sometimes likes to make little sly comments on the side, but other than that she's ok lol xx

First I better add my family is a bit of a nightmare so I feel sorry for my H2B really, they are load obnoxious and argue a lot as they all like to be the centre of a attention. I think that is why I like my H2B so much (10 years together), we both like peace and quiet. My MIL2B I think I would think she was sweet, quiet & shy if she was not my H2B's mum, but well she completely spoiled him rotten up until she realised we were serious, then went the other way and begrudges even giving him a birthday present now! She has only just got to the point over the last few years where she talks to me when I am in the room rather than ignore me.

She has shown next to no interest in the wedding and the way she acts it seems like it isn't going to happen. When we told her we were engaged she actually said to my H2B in front of me "you won't get married you always said that you would never get married", yes when he was a teenager he said that, but even I said that and that was a long time ago, my goodness he use to say he did not want a kid as a teen and we already have talked about that happening soon. I had hoped she would get interested as it got closer but so far no luck.

People like that don't deserve to even watch other people be happy as they're so miserable! I hate how completely and utterly fake mine is, drives me absolutely potty!! Try and ignore her but she just pushes my buttons constantly. I got home at 6.45 instead of 7pm one night and she phoned and said 'why are you home now, you're home to early' when i answered! What a blooming cheek!! Xx

I think all future mother in laws to be should be made to read this thread! I get on great with mine, but my best pal has had a nightmare with hers...her mil rang her son and said shed just seen my friend kissing a strange man...and her son answered 'well that's odd, because she's sat right next to me!'

Why are people like that?, xx

Not talking to mine at the mo as she had a flip out at my bridesmaid choices and said that a lot could happen in 2 years and that we might split up before then!,

Yep. I mean, my friend is the mother of her grand kids, for heavens sake. They've been married for twelve years, and she's been like this since day one. I don't know how she hasn't throttled.

    Xx

I got on pretty well with my mil2b until about 2 months ago when I was having a whine at my h2b about his brothers gf being an absolute *****. The gf heard and has obviously told his mother who now looks at me like I'm beneath her. H2b reckons I'm imagining it but I guess it's his mum and ill just have to deal with it lol. Can't wait till we get married and they all realise that they're stuck with me mwahahahahahahaha x

I get on we'll with my mother in law to be. She took some getting used to but she is nice and very welcoming so I won't complain she is just happy to have some female company I think!

Wow! Next time I'm getting frustrated with MIL I'm going to read this thread! I love my MIL, but sometimes I wish I could move and not tell her! She's very well meaning and she loves my H2B soo much, no one will ever be good enough for her little boy, and god do I know it. But at the same time she's also really lovely. She just wants me to wait on the H2B on hand and foot and treat him like a small child and pamper him etc, and for him be near her all the time. But she means well. Just frustrating. I used to hate her, because she made me feel awful about being with my H2B, but now I've learnt to realise she's just a little thoughtless in what she says (as in doesn't think about how other people may interpret things) and that she loves my H2B and just wants the best for him, and I can't possibly be mad at that. So since she's not done anything bad, just a moany pain in the butt. I've learnt to deal. If I had to cope with some of you MIL I think I would have put my H2B in a car moved and given none of them a forwarding address. And I'm not sure moving to the otherside of the country would have been far enough, have any of you tried Australia? Weather's pretty good and there's no chance of accidentally bumping into them!
