I have been on the phone to my mother today! She has been in touch with someone about the church i want to be married in and she has a number for someone to see how much it will be. We dont have to specifically join this church although one of the ministers may want us too another is a bit more casual about it. Anyway i have asked her to get in touch with the minister and the guy about how much the church is (only as shes out that way and saves me having to pop out until i really need to) She the pipes up yeh but you dont have a date yet! there is no rush! Well i dont have a date because i dont know how much things are yet! I have no quotes for anything yet to know how much exactly i will need! Well i have a rough idea but i cant book a date until i know! I told her i cant very well go and book the church and venue and everything for next year to then be like oh well actually i cant save that much in time and cant do it! Or for 3 years time to then find out the same! I know i can cut corners in places to make it more affordable but i am already compramising by changing my theme to make this wedding more affordable! Id be going much more over the top if i could! I hate the fact i am not very creative and cant make my own decorations or invites or so forth to save some money! I would but i really cant do that kinda thing even if i did i dont have the mentality to stick to it for them all to look good! Sorry just needed a bit of a moan! xxx

Well you could always stick to your 3 years and book for then! You'd have enough time to save up for the sort of wedding you really want and maybe be able to get the marquee instead of the hall if you have enough money! And by slowly buying bits at a time you'd be able to do it easy! I've already paid off my venue by paying a bit into another account each month, bought all material for invites, bought my dress etc. and I only started in March!
And people always think it's too early to do anything, it's like everyone forgets/doesn't realise how much planning goes into these things!

i'm with Kaz we gave ourselves 18months putting £300 away a month which has given us £6500 for the wedding which is more than enough for us. we've just put deposits on everything and gone from there really i've been buying bits at a time to spread the cost and i'm buying my dress on a pay monthly scheme aswell, can't go wrong. i think the first thing you need to do is a set the date for 3 years time thats more than enough time (depending on what you actually want from your wedding)
hope everything works itself out!

My H2B isnt in regular work and we cant afford to put away £300 a month, if we could we would. If he was even making half as much as me we would be alright and doing it sooner! Date we have given ourselves in three years is set so we can have the compromised wedding but i dont know how much deposits and things are gonna be so dont know if 3 years is enough. I was thinking of just booking it for 3 years but its getting the money together for deposits. xxx

Mothers are meant to aggravate, it's their job! Another thing about I notice about people above a certain age is they love to have a date! They stress if they don't have a set date I am surprised she isn't pressurising you about the invitations yet. You don't have to be creative to cut costs - take a close look at the people around you!!!! For instance my niece is an artist so I am getting her to design my wedding stationary instead of giving me a wedding present. Go on the internet and look at decorations etc then talk to your 'wedding crew' you may find some creative soul around who is just itching to be let loose (although I would advise a practise run first - lol!!!!) And as for moaning - better out than in I always say.
You'll just have to phone or email them yourself then, several churches I was going for had email addresses and they answered quite quickly! They may also have a web site you can look at, have to search it! I thought it was quite expensive for mine but several B2B on here have paid more (mine's £365) You will also have to take into consideration price increases, our church needed a deposit of £100, it is totally refundable, it's just because in the past people haven't let them know if they change their mind and the balance is due 3 months before the day! Hope that helps!

How much are you planning on spending??? I think your in a catch 22 because the church can only give you a price for today date. They dont know how much it will go up each year!! Same with the venue.. At the moment there are so good deals around the place because of the ecomony in 3 years time it could all be more expensive unless you put deposits down!! Just set a bugdet and go with it!!
Hope it all work out

Yes ours is really expensive!! its £800 but it does inc the old biddy choir, the bells and flowers of which all we want is the bells, so we are waiting for the new minister to be appointed so we can "barter" lol There are lots of ways to budget for a wedding, h2b and I wanted to get married this year but it just isnt possible so we decided on next year. We put money away each month and put deposits down when we can and buy bits off the bay or second hand, also the high street shops are really good, I got 40 day and 40 evening invitations and a guest book for £46 and the STD cards I only paid P&P for. xxx

Iv got my confetti for the tables, Im making my own chocolates for the favours, got the organza bags for them. kids activiy boxes are bought and getting little bits and bobs then, Flower girl dress is £40. Bridesmaids are £100 each, I know already that the price of the venue i want is goin up by £50 in the deposit and £200 for the hire as of October this year so i am aware that the prices will go up, kinda why i want prices and try get deposits down. my mum said they will help our with deposits which if i knew i could afford all the hire after deposits by the date i want id go ahead and book now but if the deposits. We were thinking of around £6000 as we worked out we could get to that by the date we want but then lots of things have came up, My H2B not working, i had to spend a lot on a new engine and my mot this last month because we only have one car and we reall need it! Im just stressing, i dont feel the excitement of planning on starting to plan a wedding because i havent officially booked a date. xxx

I understand that Claire, because ours didn't seem real until I'd booked the Church! And Jacs is right about it's who you know! My DJ, H2B's friend free! Flowers, I'm buying wooden roses, my friend's putting them into bouquets for free! And have a look in my invites album to see how easy they are, I know you wanted butterflies! 100 cost me under £35 (put wedding invite on some and evening on the rest) and they don't take long, took me a week in between watching films in the evening! If you list what you want then figure out how to get it done it can be cheap as chips!

My uncle is doing the food and im hoping to get discount on that. but i dont have an official price. He can provide chairs, chair covers, and some decoration he may even be able to do my cake which would be a boost! I have found a site where i can get my chair sashes. Invites are scaring me as i really couldnt make them all myself id lose the plot. Although if i get more of the confetti i could get something made up just would need to find someone to put them together! I dont have access to a printer at the moment so would have to have them printed of somewhere else which might cost money or hand write them (neither h2b or i have great hand writing) I know that once it all starts coming together i will be thinking what was a worrying about etc! Just my mum gets me soo wound up! xxx
