My mum keeps asking how is she getting to the church. I've also got my grandma coming so was going to ask BIL (he's having his car decorated to take the bridesmaids to church) to take my mum and grandma up to the church first and then come back for the bridesmaids. The church is less that 5 mins car journey from our house. But my mum is adamant it's tradition for brides mum to go with bridesmaids??

She's kinda right but does this work for you?

We had 2 cars, the main bridal car for me and my dad (then hubby and I after to take us from church to reception venue) and a large Mercedes limo (8 seater) to take my mum, grandmother and 2 grown up bridesmaids to the church then to the reception venue with my dad also.

Ours was a longer journey than yours though as it took almost an hour to the church from my parent's house.

I'd do what works for you logistically xx

She could go with bridesmaids not got a problem with that I just didn't want to leave my grandma on her own. I suppose my grandma could go up to the church with my OH family to the church. We will have to see nearer the time x

Is there space for her to travel with your mum and BM's?

My grandmother went with them, it was a great honour for her to be part of the bridal party as the eldest member of our family at the wedding so had a grand entrance with my mum at the church before I walked down the aisle with my dad and BM's.

No there isn't room for her as 3 bridesmaids will be in the back and mum in the front. I'm sure we can try and arrange something :) x

Could mum or MOH go in car with you and your dad? Then makes space for your gran in the support car?

A little different but not too different that it couldn't work if you and your dad are okay with someone else taking that special journey with you. If I was going to do it I'd want my mum.

My mum isn't going with the bridesmaids,I don't think it matters, tell her to make her own way there if you can't fit her you can't fit her end of, don't worry about it, just tell her because you have a few bridesmaids you don't have room, ... Not a lot of weddings do 100% traditional anyway anymore x

I think it will depend though on how important it is to the bride whether her mother is part of the bridal party travelling together, I know I personally couldn't have done it any other way. It was so important to me to have my dad with me and my mum and grandmother travelling with my grown up bridesmaids.

Plenty of time though to decide xxx

Going by the first post though I just think it's a bit of messing about doing a trip for mum and grandma then coming back for the bridesmaids that's all

It could be a bit of messing about, I think it's nice for the mum and grandmother to travel with the bridal party and arrive together, makes them feel more special x
