I had a complete nightmare with my mum & her trying on nearly every outfit in Beatties (Jacques Vert ) every outfit would of looked lovely if she just admitted she needed a size bigger instead of screaming they cut too small and no way was she going up a size...i tried my best to be tactful but we still ended up with nothing....i so not going with her next time she decides to look. xx

Although I was recently a bride I have also been MOB for my youngest daughter. I got my outfit from Precis Petites as I am not very tall. I have put a picture in my albums. Debenhams is great because they have so many designers to choose from. Jasper Conran is good too.

Just thought I would add to this thread to see if anyone can help me with ideas for my mums outfit for mine and my partners wedding next year? She would really like a suit that doesnt involve a skirt or a dress. She would much prefer trousers, particularly wide leg or plazzo trousers and is a size 12/14. I cant seem to find anything online anywhere and dont really want her to have to go down the separates route but she will do if she has to. Theres plenty of examples of beautiful tailored dress and skirt suits but I cannot find any with trousers. She is happy to splash out on an outfit if needs be so I just wondered if anyone had seen anything online that i could look at first before visiting any shops to give her some ideas?

Have you thought of getting something tailored for her instead? I found a local dressmaker on gum tree as my mum wants to get an outfit made for my grandma, she charges 80 or cheaper if you provide the pattern and material :-)

Thats is a thought, not sure on how keen she would be on having to committ to an unfinished article but its certainly an idea I can put to her. Might be the only way she will get something similar to what she wants.

My mum, my auntie my sister and I all had a day out to find my mums outfit. We went to Boundary Mill at Colne, so we never left the shop!

My mum found plazzo trousers and a two piece. She will look lovely, I would recommend this as the outfit she saw online was £420 and she spent less than half of this on her complete outfit.

    xx

I'm having a right nightmare with my Mum! She's a sized 18/20 and VERY selfconscious. She's 53 but doesnt want to look like an 'old lady' on the wedding day. She's been on a diet since I can remember and never got anywhere so who knows what we're going to do with her!

Navy baby we have the same problem as you. My mum is 50 (well will be by wedding) and if i am honest she is a very young mentally person and doesnt act or dress like a mum most of the time. we cant find anything she actually likes. or that i like she pointed out a few dresses that were far to young for a 50 year old wear

    Going to become Mrs Stockman

Amy, would you mind telling me what the outfit was and where I can show my mum online just for ideas. Were the plazzo trousers part of her final outift? Mums really keen to wear them in that style xx

that is a lovely outift, however mum is not a skirt or dress wear. i mentioned above that she likes plazzo pants or wide legs trousers and I cant seem to find anything like that in a 2 piece, looks like she might have to buy separates

I've also got a "younger than she actually is" mum who isn't going to want to look like what she is- a mum to an adult daughter! I worry she's going to look ridiculous next to H2B's mum who's perfectly comfortable with looking and acting her age. Hopefully we can compromise on something lol.
