well i knew this time would come but im sure its all going to kick off my mum and dad sepearated about 15 years ago after my mum had a affair but now for the first time ever they are going to be in the same room for most the day ... i just know if my dad has too much to drink he will kick off! probably doesnt help that my mums new husband is the person giving me the most financial help otherwise i doubt we would be able to afford half the budget

I hope they act like adults for you hun, to help things if ur having sit down meal give them different tables to host so they aren't near each other and just enjoy urself. Let them know the other one will be there so they don't get the shock on the day and will allow them to enjoy the day for their daughter x

    Couldnt agree more with Emma-Louise.

its a hard one but i would also personally say to them if they not going to behave then you dont want them to share you day as you dont want any problems xxx

Sometimes in life and definitely in wedding planning we worry about things we can't control, and I definitely think is one of those situations. I agree that if you can give them different tables to host during the meals that will help a lot. Also giving him an important role in the day will help too.
Assuming that your father will have other people around him at the reception that care about him (family, friends, new partner?) they'll help him stay in check IF he gets moody during the reception.

I would like to think that for one day only they can just get on with your day and not let you down.

I split from my girls dad about 5 years ago now for the same reason and don't talk (only when we have to) but on the days that my girls get married I will make the effort to get on with him for their sake as my girls are more important!
He's married to her now with another kid and I'm about to be and again with a new son.
At the end of the day your their daughter so YOU should be more important then what happened in the past and if they cant get over that then basically you need to tell them to grow up! Sorry

My parents split 15 years ago and hadnt seen each other for 10 years until April at my brothers wedding and i was very nervous. But actually they are both grown up adults and both love me and my brother so were ok with each other. We didnt force anything so just left them to it and sat apart in the church and at the reception so don't worry to much honey as you cant do anything about it but i am sure they will be grown up for your day !! After all it is only one day !! xxx

Its an awful situation to be in and luckily this was avoided at my wedding (none of my paternal family came) I dont know what I would have done if they had - but as your parents daughter, I would think they can zip their lips for the day x

This is a similar situation as to what i'm in!
My mum and dad split up 12 years ago after my mum was messing about. My dad remarried and my stepmum is amazing... My mum is in a relationship but not very stable... She struggles and is jealous that my dad is doing really well for himself and is paying for my dress and bridesmaid dresses...
They can't stand each other... I hope yours try and put their differences behind them for the day as i'm hoping mine do too....

    Good luck xxxx

My h2bs parents are diabolical...and I honestly cant think of much worse parents..however my h2b has forgiven his dad for the past and so if he can..i've got to aswell...however my h2bs mother is not even invited to the wedding to cut a long story short (she ran away and left her baby with an abusive man when he was 6months old...had 3more kids..and forgot about my h2b..and once he was 18..ocassionally made contact..even said to my h2b ''we r more friends than mother and son'') so in my opinion shes a waste of space and not worthy of a place at our wedding when shes a stranger... to top it off, the lady that did raise my h2b through most of his childhood... is coming, but she does not get on with his dad 1 little bit, and she is bringing her partner...so i've had to just tell them straight that they will avoid eachother, not speak to eachother at all costs for mine and mikes sake... ive always made it clear that if either of them start an issue...they will be kicked out...so I think as adults for our sake..it should go to plan! lol xx

Seems to be alot of this.
Am having the same thing, my "dad" only got bk in touch with me on my 26 birthday and only really rings or gets in touch when he wants something. However i have a sister and 2 brothers that i get on with and other members of his family so really have to invite him if we are inviting them.
My mum has said that she is ok with him being there if thats what i want as its mine and h2b day. It the other members of my family (mums sisters and brothers) i will have to watch!!
