Ive heard alot of people are asking for money donations thesedays. is anyone on here doing that? and how have you asked for money? i feel rude :/ but then there isnt anything we really need and money would go towards our honeymoon if we have one. xx

I had, and i know a lot of people do, a poem sayin basically that we've been living together along time and have everything we need and what we'd like if people would like to give a gift is some money towards the honey moon, we included it in the invites. I 'll try and find it out and you can pinch it if you like x

I also know how you feel because when people ask me now even though they've had the invite i just say we dont want anything but if you'd like to then money but i feel really cringey when i say it x

I know there are other threads about this somewhere. Some people have wee poems and things to put in their invitations. Might be worth searching and see what comes up?

Yeah we are asking for money.
The most precious gift you can give us is your presence at our wedding. But if you wish to compliment this, A monetary gift or something from our small gift list Will be greatly appreciated.
We only have a small gift list of things that could do with being replaced in the house like new kettle, toaster, towels, bedding only about a dozen things.
We have our website as well and on there I have just added a note saying we hope at we have not offended anyone by asking for money, and that we are making a small donation to cancer and heart charities from any money we get. And that the most important thing is for them to be there and celebrate with us. Xx

we're going to suggest money. We're not putting anything in our invitations. When people have been asking we've told them we don't want anything. It's only when they've been harassing us (lol) that we've told them we're saving for an honeymoon next summer so anything towards that we would be most grateful c

Well it was actually members of our families that said for us to ask for money!!! They said in this day and age everyone lives together before they are married and have everything they need before the wedding. My cousin last year asked for money for honeymoon and my brother last year just asked for money so they could buy something themselves and so many of my friends have been to weddings recently and the bride and grooms asked for money as well so I just thought well why should we feel bad about asking for money when everyone else is doing it already! Xx

we are having a money poem as well.... we live together and we have brought everything that we could need so why would people waste their money on something that we already have or dont need - a lot of people are doing this now. Who says theres a bloody wedding rule book! do what you want hun x
