we were gunna get rid of all our CDs and DVDs on that music magpie site, but they were coming up like, 50p a DVD, and it was taking absolutely aaaages to input all the barcodes one at a bleedin' time, so I gave up and we're just planning on doing a carboot instead. We're going digital, so it makes sense to get rid of most of them, ive not listened to an actual CD for about 3 years lol, they are just there gathering dust!

I'm tempted to just charity shop the lot, but he's got his heart set on carbooting now hahaha, I suppose we can charity shop anything what's left over! It's all extra pennies I suppose!

I've also sold a painting, he keeps telling me to promote my work, but I'm just the most bone idle person in the WORLD... alas

Velcro do you not have a smart phone? You can just scan them using that saves you typing them all in.

Velcro. With the DVDs and CDs they are only a small amount each but it soon adds up. I've done a few car boots but really can't be bothered anymore, people are always trying to get something for nothing. I don't mind negotiating on price but people seem to think if they can't get something for 10p then they won't bother.

Elaine - I'll pop it on your wall now.

can you pop this book thing on my wall too? I think I'll get the boy to download that app thing, I have a smart phone, but it's absolutely knackered lol! The only other problem we have is copying all the CDs we havent already over to our PC's and it's just too much like hard work haha, its my own fault really, ive done it before, but then something happens to my pc, ive not backed up my music catologue, lose them all, and have to recopy them over. Need to give myself a kick up the arse and get on with it I think ):

Will let him get the car boot thing out of his system first, I think. Then perhaps what's left over we can get him to scan. We will conquer all these boxes and make some money too!

It is time consuming but definitely worth it. I have all my music and films on a 3tb portable hard drive now and it's excellent! Can't ever imagine having physical CDs and DVDs now. They aren't cheap, so I asked for mine as a joint birthday present from my family, however that was about 3 years ago so they may have come down in price now. I've popped the books sites on your wall.

All but one of my bay junk items has sold now and I have £242.68 in my PayPal account! Just got an email from DVD trade in site, sent about 30 DVDs to them and got £28.13! Not bad for just having a clear out!

Wow Tegan, you have been a busy bee! I must get motivated but my OH is pretty attached to all the millions of books and cds he's collected over the years. Might be tough to persuade him! x

    Hello Ladies,

Had a bit of a skim through your posts and thought I'd comment with my wedding budget or lack there of! At the moment our grand total is £1650. Including My dress, Bmaids dresses, suit hire, ceremoney, reception, food, photographer, cars, DJ everything. I've really shopped around and haven't been affraid to say to venues/suppliers that I'm skint and I need to do things as cheaply as possible. I know for some people it's embarrassing to have to admit you're on a tight budget but people are happy to help as they're all in the same boat!!

    Thanks for looking,

Also if any one has any 'cost effective' ideas for table/room decorations please pass them my way!

    H xx

My suggestion is to make your own wedding cupcakes. Materials are easy to get in supermarkets, and the making procedure is also easy and there are so many video on the internet. Cupcakes are more economical and will be less wasted.

Areas I'm really struggling to save costs on is Photographer and Cars. I've tried the quote me service and the cheapest price I got quoted was £600 even though I said I was on a strict budget. As for cars I dont want anything fancy, just a plain cream or silver car, like a merc or something but as soon as you mention wedding the prices for those get to be over £300

4th April 2014 - I get married to my soul mate

Don't always think on-line or bay or e is cheaper. Was looking at diecut logo for invites, seen on bay of e £3.50 for 25, went into local craft shops, exactly the same 25 for 79p. Always shop around.
