aw I know how you feel :( h2b was off work last month for 2 weeks while his dad was in hospital getting a transplant. He doesn't get paid when hes off so apart from that he was spending £50 a day visiting him (hosp was in edinburgh, we are in Glasgow) on petrol, food etc and to top it all off he cant work in thats bloody snow :( with only weeks to christmas and nothing but my sons presents in I don't know what we are going to do! And to top it all off our heating is useless and costing us £70 a week! sorry kinda hijacked your post with my rant.....things always look better in the morning xxx

Bless ya, It does always work out eventually. One important thing, If you havn't got anything don't borrow anything. Explain to people that your skint and they wont mind if they don't get a present or a visit for a while. My friend recently rang me to appologise that all though it's her turn to visit, she can't afford the peterol, I didn't think twice about offering to go see her (once the snow has cleared) It hasn't made me think anything of her. If you really want to give presents, make em a christmas cake or mince pies etc. That way it wont cost you as much and they get something they actually need for christmas.....

And when you have money - don't even let your self know, live life like your skint and you will soon have more :)

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

i think we all feel the same at the minute, i have a serious overdraft, credit card bills and catalogue bills, and everytime i get a spare bit of money something else happens, i am so careful not to go over my overdraft limit because of charges, then someone goes and takes an extra installment for something and blows the limit, and now i have extra charges and interest to find, which mean the money i had to spend for christmas dinner etc, is now less than budgetted, so it may be chicken for dinner on christmas day instead of turkey and all the trimmings, wouldnt mind, but we dont have luxuries and hardly ever go out, every spare penny, and all marks overtime goes onto the wedding, but light at the end of the tunnel, in a years time, it may get easier, hoping and praying xx

I think most people are in the same situation and it sucks! hasnt been too bad for me but atm im living off loans. i pay 1 back every month then take another on the same day otherwise i would never have any money. when january comes the last loan will be paid off and im hoping i wont need another 1, fingers crossed. im also paying off an overdraft but that finishes in feb. ive got red letters coming through the post but they can all wait til after xmas. feel like everyone starts pestering you at xmas when they know your stressed out enough. and to top it all off ive got the wedding to save for. its not easy but can manage- just x

yeah I know the feeling, my h2b is an architect and I'm a teacher, we both went to uni for years, we don't have a particularly large mortgage, we should not be skint!!! but we are! last week of the month is a write off we literally live off about a tenner! Although we are saving every single penny for the wedding but it is hard! H2B got a huge wage cut recently and doesn't look like it's going up any time soon cos of the state the industry is in, and to top it off he did a homer for someone and they are now ignoring his calls without paying him so doubt we'll see that £800 quid that we were relying on for our wedding! Times are hard, keep your chin up, it can only get better! x

I think as others have said most people are in the same position. Even although we no longer have a wedding to pay for we are struggling financially as I am only able to work part time due to my FM and so nearly all our wages go on bills just to exist and we have a very small budget for food. I cant remember the last time we actually went out on a night out together or separately, when we last could afford new clothes and as for Christmas we arent buying presents as we just cant afford the extra cost of doing so. I do feel bad at times that I cant physically work full time as I know life would improve a bit if I could as we would have a bit more money but thats just life and we deal with it as best we can.

I know its difficult not to worry about money but try and keep going and I am sure things will improve for you soon. xx

why not make vouchers for people for christmas ......to do

    babysitting
    hr of ironing
    a meal out

the list is endless that way presents are costing you either time or for the meal it can be redeemed when you have a little more money

i feel truely depressed now after reading all ur posts things get worse around xmas time just keep ur chins up girls things will get better eventually i keep telling myself that and as u can all see ur not on ur own!!

if u keep getting unexpected direct debits being taken out of ur bank a/cs causing charges try to request paper bills instead of DDs that way u wont incure bank charges caused by DDs being taken unexpectedly
and i know ppl frown at the words bank loan but if u have outstanding debts on credit cards store cards overdrafts u should at least check out if u can get a bank loan u can then combine all ur debt into one monthly expense after all all these cards are loans just on higher interest rates

sorry i have my bank head on i just see ppl in these situations everyday x

but if all else fails just keep smiling and working away for ur money everyone around u will understand if u cant afford to splash out on xmas its all about being with family and friends x
