    Hi Ladies, me again;

    My latest saga is with the mobile bar service that I have hired for our reception. I found the company online and was initially very happy as they are from the local area and they provide real glassware at no extra cost. However, I have found that they are very very bad at getting back to me when I call or email. I am not a bridezilla in any respect, but I do believe in behaving professionally and I expect somebody to answer the phone, call back when messages have been left and reply to emails in a timely manner...this is a business after all.
    I sent my deposit cheque for £100 to them in Feb, post-dated to 1st May as agreed. The owner emailed me to confirm receipt of the cheque only when I had emailed her to enquire. I requested a contract which included confirmation of receipt of the deposit and asked if she could put me in touch with people who could provide recent references. NOTHING!!!
    Should I cancel the cheque before it can be cashed and find another bar service?? I like to give people a second chance but fear that my wedding day is not the forum in which to take chances?

    Helpppp!!!
    Thanks
    Danielle

    First things first you should never post date a cheque, it is actually illegal to do so they should not have asked you to do it. Secondly, you shouldn't have paid a deposit without having the contract, as they could now change everything they told you and they will have your non-refundable £100 and you could end up paying them a lot more than first thought or having to leave them with £100 of your money and go elsewhere. I would email them again saying that you want the contract, with everything you have agreed in it (you have an email stating they have the cheque so don't need them to mention this in the contract, just make sure you keep a copy of the email) and tell them that if you do not receive it within say 3 working days then you will be cancelling your cheque and your booking. If they are genuine and want your custom they will get back to you, if not cancel the cheque and count it as a lucky escape! xxx

    I think you have answered your own question by saying "I like to give people a second chance but fear that my wedding day is not the forum in which to take chances?"

    Hi girls,

    I've taken your advice. I'm in the process of cancelling the cheque, I have already booked another mobile bar which comes with fantastic reviews from recent parties/weddings on their facebook page, I called left a message and he returned my call within 5 minutes...now that's what I am looking for in a mobile bar.

    Thanks for giving me the courage to bite the bullet and tell the rubbish bar provider to jog on!

    xxxxxx
