Evening, I wonder if anyone can help at all. Myself and my partner got engaged in June. The other day I noticed a small diamond has fallen out of my ring. I don't have the diamond as I didn't realise it had fallen out. It was brought from ***H 5@m5 in June so is less than a year old. Stupidly my OH didn't get any sort of cover on it and we don't have house insurance. Now my question is.. Does anyone know if ****H 5@m5 has any sort of 12 month guarantee or is it likely I'm going to have to pay to get it repaired? I'm so annoyed cos I haven't even had it a year yet and I'm so careful with it :( x

Their repairs are guaranteed for 12 months so I can't see why purchases wouldn't be of a similar guarantee. Best thing to do is to go into your local store. Imo, your ring should last you a hell of a lot longer than 10 months, so I don't think they should be charging you for a repair.

Yes go in and tell them as that is awful. I had a diamond fall out of my engagement ring at just under 3years and it cost £100 to fix so getbin as soon as you can.
CommentAuthorJordanG99
Thanks ladies. My OH is furious as he hasn't even finished paying for it yet! Gonna go down to the store today and see what they say xx
CommentAuthorStephH96
I presume you still have the receipt? It usually tells you of any guarantee on the back x
If it's under a year old they should do something about it.

OH got my ring from a Fr@53r H@rt and didn't take out a warranty etc. He even lost the receipt for it. (typical man!!)
I needed it resizing and took it back 11 months after he bought it and they did it for nothing. I would definitely go back and get it checked. We took a copy of the bank statement with the payment on it as proof of purchase and they accepted that no problem.

OMG, thats not an insurance for it?
CommentAuthorCharlotteE98
I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem to take it back and have another diamond put in it. If they won't do it then an independent working jeweller probably will.
My Husband was the opposite. Took out cover on it and kept the receipt. I think he still has it somewhere
CommentAuthorJordanG99
We took it in and it's currently being repaired. The jewellers said that because my OH didn't get cover out, they can't guarantee that it will be repaired for free but it's been sent off and if we need to pay, the repair people will give me a call first. Hoping we haven't got to pay but definitely learned a lesson.. GET INSURANCE! x
CommentAuthorGlitterfairy
You would think it would be covered until a year. Hope you don't have to pay.

If I were you I'd go in and tell them politely but firmly that you'd like it repairing at no cost. The ring should at least last a normal engagement period and I'd be quite shocked if they'd let you pay for it to be repaired If they tell you it isn't store policy or something, escalate it to the manager :)

i gave up on my engagement ring, kept sending it back for repairs (same issue with diamond falling out) the last time, it fell out the day i got it back
got a new ring and happily the diamonds have all stayed put lol
You should absolutely be covered for 12 months at least

I had a diamond fall out of one of my rings too, it's the most gutting feeling :( My OH got me a 'token' engagement ring to propose with, so I could choose one I liked later on (ended up being given an old family one) But the 'token' wasn't a very cheap one and had real diamonds in it. He got it from a friend who up until recently owned an independent jewelers, it was leftover stock I think. So when the diamond fell out we couldn't do much about it :( Annoying as I have a cheap two-quid cubic zirconia sterling silver ring I got off the local market four years ago that's not lost any of its stones. And this expensive 'real' ring lost one within months.
I would refuse to pay for any repairs if I were you.

Have they repaired your ring yet?

I have had a nightmare with the ring :( it was due back on the 25th of April so I phoned and they hadn't even repaired it yet! Apparently the workshop only just got in touch with the store to say that it was accidental damage and they would fix it at no cost but then the manager started asking me all sorts of questions just like they did when I very first took it into them. Eventually he ummed and ahhed and said he's just going to get the ring fixed rather than get a replacement and that he'd get in touch with the workshop and phone me straight back. Well that was last Monday and I never got a call back. I also told them that I don't want a replacement ring- I wanted my own ring!
I phoned them again today to find out when I'd be getting the ring back but the manager didn't leave any notes on the computer, he wasn't in today and the workshop isn't open either so I still don't know when I'm getting it back. It's been almost a month now.. Nobody seems to know what's happening with it and I'm so fed up :(
CommentAuthorStephH96
I know it's a pain but you need to keep at it. Otherwise they will take advantage. Call them everyday until they get fed up of you, and keep a record of who says what each time you call. That way it you need to take it further to get your ring back you have proof as clearly the shop can't be bothered to log anything.
CommentAuthorJordanG99
Well the manager didn't call me once again so I had to chase him. Apparently they are now in the process of fixing my ring and although he couldn't give me a date when it will be back, he's estimated the end of the week. I soo hope he's right! Fingers crossed :) x

They didn't charge me, I eventually got it back on the 27th of May but I had it a week and the same diamond fell out again :( They have now decided to replace the whole ring for me however it was due in store this friday and I still haven't heard anything from them. I'm so upset, me and OH are very tempted to tell them that we want a refund and to go elsewhere for a new ring. Gutted as I do love that ring but it's not worth all the trouble xx
CommentAuthorStephH96
Oh no, chase them again, at least you are getting a new ring, maybe there was something wrong with the setting on the first one.
CommentAuthorJordanG99
I'm hoping so! Gonna give them another call tomorrow x
CommentAuthorDanielleG93
Oh no, hope you get your ring today. i get what you mean it does seem like a lot of hassle for one ring, hopefully this time the diamond stays put for you x

How'd it go Jordan?
CommentAuthorJordanG99
I tried phoning 3 times today and left a message on their answer machine and had nothing :( I couldn't get into the store today as I was looking after my niece but will be in town tomorrow after my dress fitting so will pop in and see what's what. Just seems to be one thing after another I'm so fed up with it all :/ x
CommentAuthorFutureMrsW
Good luck tomorrow. Hopefully they'll sort it and you'll have no problems with the replacement. Though they have been hard to contact it seems they have done well repairing and replacing it for you with no quibbles x
CommentAuthorDanielleG93
Oh no jordan :( Good Luck hope they have it all sorted when you pop in, i would get slightly anxious if i couldn't contact them also x

I went in and my ring has arrived woohoo! But now needs to be sent off to be re-sized. The lovely girl in the shop has fast-tracked it for me so rather than taking 3 weeks, I should have it back in 6 days eekk! Hopefully this will be the end of this long saga! x
CommentAuthorSuper4ac
So frustrating not being able to wear your ring!!! Hopefully it will be perfect when it comes back, and will stay that way :) I had to have mine sent away for valuation and re-setting so I know how you feel with the waiting! Looks like I'll have to have it re-valued for insurance as well so thats another two weeks, putting that off though! Enjoy it when you get it :) x
CommentAuthorStephH96
Woohoo - nearly there Jordan :)
CommentAuthorDanielleG93
Yay at least it was on, and that's fab she is having it fast tracked for you, hope the days pass by quickly for you x
