Hon just so proud of you for the way you're handling all of this! I'd have lost my rag completely and thrown something at her by now. You're an amazing mum/step-mum and little madam is lucky to have you and so's h2b. Fingers, toes and eyes crossed that you get to move out asap - and you're doing totally the right thing by giving yourselves all some space and you'll feel much more settled. Today got so much worse. It seems to be that they only say nasty things to me when h2b is at work. This morning I was putting tights on madam for school when MIL told me she didn't need them on, as it isn't winter and it's supposed to be warm. It was cold outside, and the ground is cold and I didn't want her to fall over on cold ground. She's only 5 and does tend to fall over a lot, she can't help it, she has large feet. So anyway, after the 4th time of her protests I snapped and said she could do it all herself as I was clearly doing it so wrong for wanting her to be warm, and the fact that I was taking on someone else's child clearly wasn't enough for them. She told me that they'd managed for 5 years without my help and they certainly didn't need me now and perhaps I should reconsider my position as they're certainly not asking me to look after her. So, she told me to leave. In front of the little one. Who then asked me as I was walking her to school if daddy was taking me to a different house and she didn't want me to leave her as I belong in her arms. I have spent most of the day in tears.

I won't let her win. My mum has offered to help us with a deposit. H2b has got a new job today which means we can afford to rent. We should be out within a week. We're just worried about the backlash this will cause. I offered to leave to make things easier for him, he told me I couldn't go anywhere without him.x

Glad you are getting out of there... Can't believe anyone could be this nasty to someone who is clearly a good thing for both her son and grandchild! Sounds like she cant/wont adjust to the fact that her son and granddaughter have a lovely person in their lived and you are doing such a good job with little missus, she probably feels a lot jealous and a little unsure what she can do for herself. I dont know how long your H2B and girlie have lived back with her, but she probably felt glad to be needed, and now she is not.

We've been to see the house. Our friend is really keen for us to move in. We have to go through estate agents for the first 6 months but then he said he'll cut them out of it after that and then drop the rent for us. Just need to speak to my parents after we've spoken to the estate agents. We're dreading telling h2b's parents because there will be a backlash, but we need to move as it's becoming unbearable. Mil has broken her tooth on a toffe though, so she can't speak too much or her mouth starts bleeding. Doesn't stop her though!

Sussie, he only had custody of her 2 months before we got together, so about 3 months before I met her and she wanted me to do everything from the word go. So for the last year I have been doing everything for that little girl. I can understand that they're worried about h2b getting hurt again, but he's the one who has to make the decision about taking a risk. One of the girls I work with said it seems as though they're testing me to see if I'm good enough, so that I'll snap and walk away so they can say I told you so. At times it does feel like that, but I'm not walking away if I snap!

A word of advise. Don't critisize her gran infront of your stepdaughter to be. She is 5. She will remember that her granny was nasty to you, but she will also remember what you've done or said back. She will make up her own mind about who is the one she trusts - and it appears to clearly be you. She's lost one mummy recently. There will be consequences if she loses another one. Take a deep breath and deal with the backlash. Getting your new family into a home where you can be yourselves is the best thing you can do for that little girl!

Round of applause to you, you clearly deserve a medal for putting up with her this long. I don't think I would've handled as well as you. The sooner you leave the better for all 3 of you. I would like to applaud your h2b too for standing up to her and sticking by you, believe me some sons would never stand up to their mother (my sisters fiance is one of them).
