On the 27th at 8pm(strange time) we are meeting with vicar. all i know is we will fill in extra details for register and to hand over our music and organise the service.. but what else does this meeting entail? will she be going through it all or will that happen at rehersal? When she says organising the service is that organising the whole thing?

She makes me nervous i dont know why bt i feel like a kid bk at school lol!

When we met with our Priest we chose the readings, hymns, discussed paying the donation for the church, arranging organist and registrar (RC church), and decided whether to just have the wedding service, wedding service with communion or the full mass.

We also confirmed timings and set the rehearsal date.

He also advised us on the OOS we got printed up.

Thanks :-) we arent having the organ so have to provide our own music so that means no hymns i think i may ask if 1 of my hridesmaids can read a poem i have but then if she would like to choose any religious type reading she can feel free to Pick anything she likes aslong as its quite short(the vicar not my bm lol) as i feel quite bad weve took out hymns.. weve done it for the kids thi my son freaks out at the sound of the organ any time hes been in church he has a complete melt down so trying to avoid that at a full scale where its only me who can calm him down!

its COE. I forgot we need to go over timings lol!!

Im hoping she can make it about the kids too not just us as we r a family she said she would tlk about rhat wen we meet.. and i know i shudnt be nervous Really hehe x

Will see soon obviously just wanted to be a bit prepared so i dont sound totally clueless (even tho i am) :-D

Does CofE allow you to not have religious readings?

We had a reading, a responsorial psalm and bidding prayers plus the gospel reading by the priest. Then we had 3 hymns.

I dont think you have to have a reading if i dont want ideally yes tho as wen i originally asked about organ she said "i would expect 3 hyms!" But when i asked again in an email later on she said its entirely up to us lol.

But yea as far as i know you can have anything that is not inappropriate for church anti christian/blastphomy etc
i was quite suprised she agreed to a few of our songs if im honest lol! They arent bad but the odd word like kill shoot blood etc makes u think that wnt work for church (train drops of jupiter bein an example)

No worries, hope it all goes well. I'm sure they'll be fine with the kids. As long as the important vows and legal bit is covered.

CofE you have to have a minimum of one religious reading from the bible. The other is normally down to the discretion of the vicar but generally that doesn't always have to be from the bible :)

She'll just go through the service, discuss what happens, decide on your vows, music and that kind of thing. Nothing to worry about! We've got ours next month and he's booked us for a 4 hour meeting so think yourself lucky!! x

We've had the first meeting with our vicar and she was lovely. Made us a cuppa and everything. Got to go back and meet her nearer the time to discuss hymns and readings etc, but don't worry about it at all - they are there to help you have your dream day!! xxxx

Our first meeting she wasnt too pleased with my no organ request lol but explaining in email about my son she got it. I dnt mind 1 reading it has to be a religious ceremony in some way!

Wow 4 hours?! What could you possibly discuss in 4 hours lol.. 8pm a bit inconvenient and as i say such a strange time for such an important meeting lol.

I have my last bann reading this sunday and meeting on 27th and then its all sorted Untill rehersal... exciting :-) xx

Yep, 4hrs!! I was a bit surprised but there's lots to discuss so I'm quite excited :)

Tbh, I won't say too much on the organ because I know I will rant lol.

Vicars normally do meetings in the early evening as it's more convenient for her, her parishioners, more importantly any services they have during the day and for the couple who maybe working in daytime :) xx

Im so glad I don't have to have a meeting with the vicar as im that same feel really nervous and would prob make an inappropriate joke. The vicar is my father in law to be so everything has been very relaxed for us. we are having no hymns and he has just said what ever we want music wise. we wont be having a rehearsal

meeting lasted 15 mins! lol... we just filled in more details for register (fthers names occupations etc etc) shes going to do a prayer for our kods which is the only way she can bring them into it but thats totaly fine by us aslong as she mentions them!

Shes testing our music this week and going to let me know that it works on their cd player lol

    Rehearsal is 29th july at 6pm :-)

We added flowers onto our bill (£30) and we are letting her choose a reading of her choice ive also asked for my bridesmaid to read a poem and shes going to get back to me.

No hyms and she was completely fine with that.

She prayed for us before we left she was much more easy to talk to this time. Ive been to all 3 banns readings where i know other couples had only been to 1 so i think shes took in that weve at least made the effort :-)
