We have to go to meet and chat with the vicar in a week or so, something we have to do before we can set a date, i think. Am really excited about this, but a little scared. Has anyone else had a meeting with their vicar? What do we do? Is it really scary? (lol sorry i'm nuts)
Advice/ comforting stories please (?) xxx

Probably check your eligibility to marry in the church, your reasons, and give you info about the legal side and other requirements.

ok, so not so bad then?
I've only ever heard 2 things about our vicar: 1 - that she's is mean (or she just did something that upset the old ladies in the village) and 2- that she's like dawn french. Personally, i've got my fingers crossed that the second one is most accurate :D
Just realised this looks really bad, I live across the road from her and have hardly ever spoken to her and that i'm trying to guess what she's like based on stories from gossiping grannies!
mines a lovely guy but just takes his time with things he was here in jan and stayed for over an hour an half him and h2b kept talking bout other things rather than our wedding lol x

When my mum was remarrying a few years ago, they met their vicar and had to go for tea at the vicarage with him and his wife and he wanted to know about their sex life and relationship, he was quite eccentric though!! They normally just ask the basic questions regarding your eligibility to marry in a church. Dont worry it shouldnt take long and they are normally very nice :-) xx

when we had our 1st meeting, we were asked alsorts of questions, i think i all depends on your circumstances really, H2B is divorced and we both have children so a lot of questions were about that and the kids, eg... why do you think marriage will last, why do you feel you want to get married, are the children ok with your plans, and backgrounds of us both and what we want out of life etc etc. i was really nervous for so reason but our minister was lovely. he did make us wait a couple of days before giving us his discision... dont panic, be you and you will be fine :) we have our 2nd meeting in may to discuss music, hyms etc and cant wait now lol x

we went to meet our vicar last week... she asked if wed been married before... employment, dads employment, dob age etc... then she gave us a run down of payments etc (400!!) and then told us about banns... because we dont live in that parish we need to get our banns read twice and attend church once a month from may! :) xxxx

i didnt have to meet the vicar as a new one was just being appointed but we saw the administrator and she just filled out the forms and told us what was required of us so i assume its just that. We have to do a marriage preperation class!!!

When we had our first meeting in was very informal, just asked a few question, like have u ever been married before. And just went through the cost. That was about it really.
I am now Mrs Stacey Stiles and loving it!

generally they just run through the service and make sure they have the legal stuff strait. I am sure she will be lovely sometimes people get their noises bent out of shape over the tinniest thing! she may ask you to attend church for a while and or go on a marriage prep course both things I don't think are unreasonable.

I met with my vicar last year when I wanted to set a date. It is very informal, he just asks a few personal details and checks you are able to marry in the church (live in the parish or close family do etc etc). xx
