Quite excited, H2B and I will be going to meet with a photographer tonight, the first one for us .........more lined up for Friday and the weekend, fingers crossed we select one by Sunday and I can tick something else off the list.
How many photographers did everyone meet before making a decision on the one?

Yep, I already copied the questions to my blackberry so I can ask them all .........that was really helpful .........thanks!
Wow - so you're seeing 6, I have 4 lined up so far including tonights, I wondered if anymore would be overkill as I have another I want to see but now you said you're seeing 6 I think I might organise the 5th ;)

I think you cant see too many in all honesty babe, if you like 5 then meet with 5....if you like 10 then why not? You have to get the PERFECT photographer for you as they last forever so no matter how long or how many meetings that takes is fine! So yes make your 5th appointment hehehe

Thanks hun ............at the moment I'm thinking we may not be able to skimp on cost coz it'll impact on the quality and like you said they last forever, they're soooooo expensive though! Killing my poor budget which is increasing by the day :/

Photographers have got to be up there with the price of venue, very expensive, we're looking around alot, but also trying to find out what others think of perticular people so we know from first hand experience if their worth the money, good luck tonight

Snap lol But we decided from the get go the 3 most important things to us and said these were the things we wouldnt skimp on and would pay whatever (within reason lol) to get what we wanted, this being one of them (rings and venue were the others because rings and photos last longer then the day and venue sets the whole tone of the day).
Plus Ive done it the other way where a friend did the photos and although we got over 500 pictures I hated them all because the guy was drunk and shook the whole day :-(............................this time Im doing it properly lol

Thanks cra1gt.
I agree hun, pix, rings and venue are really important ...........along with my dress.
What I'll do is once we've met with all of them I'm going to send all the details to my uncle who is semi-pro (he's done work for local councillors and the law society and also models portfolios) and ask for his opinion on them - I asked him to do the wedding but he won't as he hasn't got the experience and I think was worried he'd let us down.

I agree that photographers are really important as the photos will last forever, whereas food gets eaten etc. We splashed out on a good photographer so we can have great photos :) However, we only actually saw this one photographer which was probably pretty stupid lol. We'd seen some at wedding fayres but not met with any, then we saw an offer for a local photographer who has an amazing reputation and is usually expensive, so we met with him and decided to go for it straight away. is just to love and be loved in return

i looked at loads on the internet but 2 really stood out for us so we met with those and i picked the first one really understood what i wanted and had recently done a wedding with my venue and car company so i know the wedding pictures are going to be great. x
CommentAuthorInDreamland
3 of the photographers are off the reception venue's preferred suppliers list and one of them has also done ceremony's at the church we're getting married at so I have high hopes when we meet with him.
This one tonight is off the preferred suppliers list, I'll ask if he's done the church too as it's important they know both venues I think (according to my uncle) x

Photography for us, is the most important thing. It means everything to us. It's similar to you girls finding the dress of your dreams. You'll know when you find "the one". Hairs on the back of your neck will just stand up. His/her work will just excite you, it's as simple as,that.
To give you an idea of what you should be looking for, the photos should look natural, and not have the life photoshopped out of them. Look out for dodgy things like black and white photos, with a colour bouquet or cravat for example. It's either or.
Your photographer is going to be with you potentially for the entire day and the whole shebang, so, are they the sort of people who you would invite to your wedding? If not, vote with your feet.
I've noticed a lot of brides on here get engrossed with copyright-free photos. That's all well and good, but surely it's about the quality of the photos? See point number one. If you like them, then great. Believe me, if the photos are vibrant and are exiting to look at, copyright issues should pale into insignificance.

We went with the 2nd one we met we hired him on recommendation hes based in Chelmsford xx

We met loads at wedding fairs but only had one follow up appointment. We cancelled the rest as I just knew he was the photographer :)
There are so many people out there who will tell you
what you can't do.
What you have to do is turn around and say, "watch me"!!

Just got home from meeting him.
Really like him. Friendly and relaxed, no hard sell but showed us lots of different albums, mostly from the venue we have booked for the reception and he's going to forward me pix from weddings he's done at our church too. He's a preferred supplier of the venue so that's plus too. Nice pix, sounds like he has an efficient system to get all the pix you would want without annoying the main bridal party.
Defo a possibility.
3 more lined up for Friday, another on Saturday and hopefully we can make a decision. I would be comfortable and happy having him as the official photographer :)

I spent days looking online at soo many photographers. I narrowed it down to a few then met with my favourite. He seemed great so I think we are going for him. BUT... we haven't met with anyone else, and haven't actually had a recommendation for him. Is this bad?! We love his photos and we met him at his house and he seemed great. But now a bit worried about lack of recommendation/not meeting anyone else! xx

I'm the same mrsET I have found someone online that I love! And my mum actually teaches his son at school but I dont want to rush into anything, but I really love his work! I was going to just go for him but it seems like everyone looks at loads first! xxx

I really wouldn't worry about not seeing anyone else. We did exactly the same as you in as,much as our photographer's work is so vibrant the hairs on the back of my neck just stood up!
I knew that she was the one and we hadnt even seen her, or anyone else. As,it happens, when we finally did go to see her she ticked all,the boxes and she was genuinley interested in not only our plans, but her other couples as well.
In retrospect, we are lucky in the sens that we have not found anyone as good as our photographer visually.
So if you like his work, get along with. Him, as well as youmsay you do, then go for it! Sometimes gut, instinct is the bestncharcter reference going, believe me!

i was looking at photographers online for weeks if not months and whittled it down to 2 i really loved the pictures on there websites so arranged a meet those ones. after looking the albums and 2 very long chats about what i was looking for and what i wanted my pictures to look like and what their ideas were. i picked the one i felt most at ease and also gave me a the best deal.
wouldn't worry about seeing any more if your happy with the one you have picked. we didn' have any personal recommendations either but have looked on his book face and his blog and he has some very happy brides and is very busy he regularly updates is book face with his lates pictures i love is work and he gets some stunning shots. some times you just its right its a bit like picking your dress and venue the ones the one and nothing else will do lol x

That last sentence is exactly what i said in another thread. Couldn't have put it better myself:-)
CommentAuthorMrsE 2b
Yeah that's true - hopefully it will be fine! I think he's fairly new - he's been doing weddings for 3 years and hasn't got a very developed facebook page or anything so I don't know about recommendations. But we loved his pictures even more than those that were twice the price. The fact that he invited us to his home is good I think - can't imagine they'd do that if they were crooks lol.
Also I have such long hours at my job I don't really have time to meet lots of different ones!
Good luck finding the right one ladies - photos are such a personal choice. xx

I agree with that feeling of the one is the one.
We've so far met 5 now (4 today). We have a front runner (both H2B and I agree) but I have to say it is a close call but the front runner I definitely felt the most at ease with and like his stuff he showed us and a plus is he's done weddings at both the church and reception venue.
We have one more tomorrow then it's decision time.
Thanks for all the advice on here! It's really helped :)
