I'm playing with the idea of having a themed Medieval wedding next Christmas, I'm a history University student and absolutly ADORE the dresses, I've been playing with some online dress shops looking at the wedding dresses and potential bridesmaid dresses and am loving them! I'd really appreciate thoughts, suggestions, how you'd feel if you were invited to such a wedding.... basically I need to be told if its an awful idea so I can nip it in the bud before I fall too much in love with the dresses. Thank you, Jess x

I arranged a medieval themed wedding a few years back. We took elements for the bride and bm, stationnery, flowers etc and it was in a medieval chapel etc so was fabulous. I know some people go for the theme full monty and may even ask guests to get dressed too. I would be very happy to attend such a wedding and do not think it is an awful idea whatever you decide as long as it is what you and your h2b wants!

My auntie is having a fully medieval wedding, marrying in a medieval chapel, reception in a medieval banquet hall and everything, they are having every single thing that can be done... she's having a special gown custom made to fit the theme, my soon to be uncle is having his outfit custom made and the bridal party and even the guests have to dress up in proper attire :) I'm really looking forward to it, I think it'll be magical and they are a very New-Agey couple so everyone expected them to do something like this but I don't know anyone who isn't looking forward to it! :)
Got married 27th June and blessed on July 5th 2012
Finally Mrs M :3
I haven't really got a theme, but I'm getting married in a medieval town house and will be letting this influence other aspects of the wedding. All my friend think the medieval setting sounds awesome and are very excited about it.
I think if that's the theme you want then you shouldn't let other people stop you, it's your wedding.

What did you decide on? I am in the very early stages of planning our medieval wedding, everyone I've mentioned our plans to has been up for it, even the one person i thought would hate the whole idea! We are getting married in castle ruins with candles everywhere. Our reception venue isnt decided on yet but wherever we do it we will be having a banquet style meal. Our budget is quite small so it will be interesting to see if I can pull it off!

That sounds amazing! h2b and I wanted to have a medieval wedding but family got involved... yeah.
The dresses are absolutely amazing :D Also, if you're near London, there's a place that specialises in medieval do's for Hen Parties. I forget the name of the place though- you may have to Google it...

This theme sounds awesome! I guess your first decision is how into the theme you want to be (ie, little touches, or full blown all the way theme). Whatever you decide, your guests will always remember it! Oh and the dresses are gorgeous!

Sounds lovely, I had medieval touches at my wedding, I had tall old looking silver candleabra with ivory candles and deep red roses and ivy mixed with real apples in the centre, very dramatic and looked great. Lots of candles dotted around help the set the seen too.
Have fun planning

I think its a fabulous idea. I would love to be invited to a themed wedding, but I aso like dressing up, in particular big fancy dresses. Im sure there will be some people who might have a bit of a grumble, but if they care about you then they will get in on the excitement. Sometimes I think it might be the not knowing what they should wear that makes them afraid. Perhaps by putting out some ideas and places to get outfits from, with the wedding invites may help your less enthusiastic guests get more comfortable with the idea. Or you might find all your guests love the idea. good luck, would love to see your dress, and other pics of the day. Tracy

hi, me and my h2b are planning on a medieval wedding and i'm so excited about it. we're getting married at Sudeley Castle and my fiance is the one who suggested it, he want to get a crown and a sword and everything lol and our reception is on the banquet room with all the old flags. All my family are really keen on the idea, and i hope you go for it too. If any one has done the medieval theme what did the groom wear as we are struggling to find something to match the theme?
