Hi Ladies, I have just got off the phone having made our appt at the register office to give notice. Having explained the fees she said that copies of the marriage cert were 4 quid each so we need to decide how many we want. To be honest I hadn't figured we would need more than one. Am I missing something? Do I need multiple copies? Also what questions do they ask about your relationship?

Hi, we got 2 extra copies of our certificate. Some places require to see the certificate if you're changing your name e.g. Banks, driving licence, mortgage provider and so on, by having more than one copy it can make informing of name change a bit easier/quicker as you won't have to keep waiting for your certificate to come back. As regards questions, they just asked me for OHs full name, dob, what job he does that sort of thing, wasn't anything too probing and personal lol xx

You only really need one for yourself. I know with our church wedding we signed three copies, one for us, one kept by the church, and one sent to the registry. The three were all included in the church fee. I'd imagine they would do two copies, one for and one for them, but you would only pay for one. The cost of extras is if people would like to have a spare to be safe. I considered it in case the certificate got lost when I sent it to change my passport and driving license (photocopies aren't accepted for that), but in the end just had the one.You can buy copies from the registry later I think if you need them.

I would recommend getting extra copies. Knowing what an absolute pain it was changing my name with only one, if I went back and did it again that would be the first thing I'd do! xxxx

We got extra, paid for them when we gave notice as it worked out cheaper. Was handy when having to send everything off to change my name,
Looking forward to becoming the 3rd and last Mrs McLauchlan

We only got the one original certificate and I have had no problems with getting my name changed. Those who need to see the original either will want to see you in person anyway so you take it with you, they copy it and hand it straight back or they will return it to you very quickly in the post if you send it off (like passport and driving licence).

We got a couple of extra copies so the original I could keep safe and we could send off to more than one place at a time to change names. Was really useful.

I will get another two to three copies after we get married next week for driving licence and passport. But everywhere else like the bank I just walk in with the one copy. Some friends told me it's a pain with just the one copy lol. That's why I will pay for extra ones.
