I think this is a good idea and means that you get a bit of flexibility in where you have your reception. BUT...they are not necessarily a cheap option. I think they cost quite a lot to rent, and you would still need to do the catering or hire that in too. My friend is having her wedding reception in her garden and it's not working out much cheaper than our hotel one..will be lovely though!

it is a good idea if you know somone with a field, but its not just the marquee its all the tables, chairs, crockery, glasses, toilets etc you have to hire as well, but some marquee companies come with that stuff so i'd check it out x

I have posted link on my wall love these tents we were going to use them but have managed to borrow a marquee, we were quoted £7000 or so that was for lighting heating/fans etc furniture staff, they were very friendly and helpful but we felt it was too much to spend but the tents are gorgeous! we went in one we watched a play it it was lovely! x

we were looking at a marquee but it was going to cost us nearly 3000 just for the marquee table hire heating etc which would have taken the majority of our budget x

We wanted a marquee in my mum and dads garden but when I looked into the cost it was deff a no go so we went down the route of hiring a hall rather than a hotel and we are getting outside caterers in to do our sit down meal they bring waitresses etc then we will have a buffet in the evening maybe a cheaper option would be to ring round halls? I know most towns hire out municiple buildings and they can be quite grand I know Goff is usuing one for her reception and its stunning the other option that I know one of the brides on here did was to buy a marquee off ebay but then again it depends on the size you need xx

Hey Im getting married in june, We are having a outside blessing in the new forest amongst the trees and have rented a field for the night for the reception. The field cost us £200 for the day and night and we are all camping overnight and I brought two 3x9m marquess on ebay for £70 each and its cost me £150 for tables and chair hire for 50 people. We are having a BBQ as its outside so everyone is bringing along some food to stick on the BBQ and all I need to do it provide a nice salad and some deserts and of course the cake. Its saved me so much money and means we have have the wedding we want that suits us. If thats what you love (being outside) then go for it but if you would not be happy with a basic marquee and would need it decorated with luxery draping ect you may be better off hiring one but if like me less is more and you happy decorating it with ivy, and balloons yourself the you will save so much. and remember if you buy the marquee on ebay you can always sell it again after the wedding and treat you and your h2b to a nice meal out!

We're having a 12 x 15m marquee in the grounds of the Trust property we live in and I think we've got a cracking deal. For the marquee, all drapes inside, dancefloor, coir matting floor, chandeliers and coloured lighting behind the walls plus a catering tent = £2k. The whole of one side is also removeable, so if it's a nice day (fingers crossed for September!) we can have it all open onto the croquet lawn! I think it's a great option because it's a blank canvas and you really can do what you want with it. We're going to have accents of pink swags, huge lit table centres and bunting along the sides.

Hey alsbetty just had a quick look on ebay, I brought mine a few months ago so cant find name of seller but if you just search marquees there are loads about - saw the which it 3m x 9 so if you got two and put them side but side they would be 6x9m ( I have put the link on you wall) well worth doing and if you have a good look through ebay you can get some brilliant deals. The one I put a link to is buy now price of 90 pounds but you could prob get them cheaper on the auctions. Hope this helps :-)

Marquee can get expensive because of all the extras you need as well, like flooring and tables and chairs. Not forgetting toilets as well. xx

Its defo something we are considering, we have been quoted £4K just for the wedding breakfast alone, not including the drinks package, or the evening buffet. Hopefully we can find something that suite our pockets and tastes;-) xx

Apparently you can get heated Marquees for autumn/winter use. We're gonna look at a venue soon where they use winter marquees. We're getting married in November next year so dont think a normal marquee would be wise - though i could be my something blue at that point!!

We are looking at having a marquee at home in my parents field. We've had 2 seperate companies now come out, view the site and give us quotes. A marquee with seating for 100, a stage, dance floor, entrance porch, all dressed up, and a catering tent.... the cheapest so far is just under £6k and that does not include catering of an kind or a band.

Yes we're getting married in September and not planning on heating it at this stage, but if it's cold that week I can just call and ask them to bring it with them and it's an extra £120 for full themostat controlled heating - not bad at all!
