hi ladies i'm making my own invites as we are on a budget but i need some help on designing them and where to find the best martials and if there are any free online inserts tia x

I just googled wedding invites to decided what it was I wanted, it makes things alot easier if you know what you like. You can then download the fonts etc.you want to use (for free normally) and I then used word to put it together. I did the order of service in this way as my cousin did our invites. We used a 180gsm ivory card if that helps!

We made out own too (photo is in album) we got out supplies from various places, its just a case of looking for cheap but quality items, design wise we just had a play and decided on one that we thought looked good, good luck in doing yours x

I'm making my own invites and place names. To buy them from the company was costing around £500 for approx 80 invites and 65 place names. I've managed to source all the materials to make them for £85. x

I am making our own, too. I bought the cards and envelope from a famous auction website. I wanted some ribbon around them, which i bought from the same site from a seller in China. I also bought some vellum inserts and mulberry paper from a craft website. I had a design in mind when I started and it was just a case of finding the marterials. Can't wait to see the finish produts :)

I am making all my invites, the table plan, place cards and table numbers myself. It was going to cost just over 500 for the lot to be done so I ordered a sample of the invite I liked the look of and copied it. In total probably going to have cost me £50 to produce everything I need. I have photo's of my first attempt on my profile. I am actually excited about doing it all now as its my little mark on the day. Xxx

We'll be making our invites as well! Ryan has started on them already. I'll post pics in my diary thread when they are done! Anyone have suggestions for a good place to get little scrapbooking appliques?

I made ours, cards, envelopes and stampers from hobby craft then got some ribbon to match our colour scheme. Unfortunately I have already sent them out and forgot to take a picture

There's loads of free templates online you could have a look at. Some really good ones as well!
I just did mine on photoshop/paint. Googled invitation wording and they cost me the price of decent paper. Which I backed on some blue card that I already had

I've designed my own invitations on Photoshop Elements. No templates - just from scratch. Mine is passport style with a boarding pass... and have also set up a wedding website with a splash page so designed the image on that too!
Took about two-three days in total. All I need to do is print out and assemble (toughest bit!). It is really rewarding though if you have the time :)
Do you have an idea of the style you want?

The only problem I've had so far is printing onto pearlescent paper. When I print my design onto normal paper it prints fine, but when printing onto the card there have been errors almost every time. Sometimes it does a sort of double print, almost creating a shadow effect, sometimes it prints in grey rather than black, then when it does print fine it needs to be left for hours to dry!! Think I'm going to give up on the pearlescent & just order plain card.

I really want to do my own invites too.. how did everyone print theirs.. as I've noticed a lot of invites have the embossed writing? There are lots of little things on ebay for adding finishing touches, or if you have a Range near you, they have lots of crafty things!

I had a stamp made with my name and date on, stamped onto I the pearlised card but printed onto white paper inside. Also made a pro type before I started to test my idea, they definitely don't look like my first design. Photo in my album

We are making our invites, H2B has been sorting it all out on photoshop then printing on plain paper to make sure everything is in the right place before going onto card :) ebay and hobbycraft are your friends for finding cheap materials but good quality though :) you can find lots of good wording online, just do a quick google search :) hope that all helps, also do it a bit at a time, it takes a while but is definatly a good money saving option :)
