Welcome hun. Everyone will help you on here, ask the girls about Anne who makes the beautiful dresses at a really good price for starters. I didn't use her but wish I had as the dresses that she has made have been gorgeous xxxx

Babe we are all friends and most of us have bought/buyin dresses from ebay or ann. Some are buying from shops. Alot of us are buying from ebay for everything else. Suits if you go into moss or debenhams they do a deal where you buy 3-4 suits any size and colour and get the grooms free.

Start making a list of all the most important things to u, with as much or little detail as u have available, and u can guarantee some1 will know how to make it or source it cheaper than ud thought! Once uve saved on the top priority bits, it leaves u to either buy the little extras or forget them & not be stressed about the pennies!! 1st money tip is getting married out of peak wedding season! Good luck x

    Hi Leanne,

bridal shops sell of last seasons dresses reall cheap, you have to buy the one that people have tried on in the shop, but once they dry clean it, its good as new.

Oh my, so much help, thank you soo much ladies.
and Emma hoping to get married a.s.a.p. really. I'm only just turning 21 but happy and settled.
Currently making those lists and on google.
Any ideas on what type of venues for ceremony/reception work out cheapest?
Also I've heard late-afternoon weddings can save, has anyone experienced one or any input on that?
    Thanks so much!
    xxx

Chain hotels usually do quite economical packages. Register office is way cheaper for ceremony- but you get transport costs for split venues.

My friends got married at 5 in a church then had an evening buffet & band 20mins away. Smaller places r often more flexible, especially if u point out where u r happy to spend and which bits aren't important. If you book a hotel venue & have lots of guests staying, many places r happy to make more revenue from that

Do many have a marriage license? Or would their rates for the ceremony itself be ridiculous?

The most expensive thing for other than a church is the registrar to come to the venue- usually a few hundred pounds.

Loads of places have licences now, some will charge a room hire, then u have the registrars fee and then ur reception costs on top.

My initial idea was to have a late ceremony and then an evening buffet at the same venue.. then you don't have to worry about the double food and transport. Like maggielou said, theyd just charge me for the room for ceremony, and then food and drink was all that I had to pay for the evening do.

Make sure you look out for the little clauses at each place. My venue is making us have all three - ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening do.. but its still a reasonable price so thats ok :D

Hi welcome, do you have any dates that are special to you both or are you quite flexible? My friends got Married the day before her birthday. My date is October half term as my Bro and my SIL are teachers and I want a midweek wedding. Most people chose their anniversary of getting together or getting engaged.

    I'm now a married woman

Methodist churches aren't tied into any charging structure so it can vary from nothing to hundreds.

Nah we're really flexible when it comes to dates, no idea of budget as of yet, basically just as cheap as possible but as close to my dream wedding (which would be like a castle setting) I could have it if I wanted to wait but really want to do it a.s.a.p (that being hopefully within the next two years).
Midweek would be a nightmare for out family and friends however a Sunday sounds like a possibility.

I went to the local registry office who gave me a list of licensed venues, they're not all hotels (which was something I didn't want) Its a good place to start for looking for places that cater for weddings.

Other cheap options I have come across is to have a registry office and go to a beafeater etc. and get your guests to pay for themselves.

There are many wiered and wonderful ways to get your cheap as chips wedding. Happy hunting.x

we are getting married in a methodist church on a friday, its costing us £235, that includes, church and minister, organist and steward.(which acts like an usher) i think it depends on each individual church to be honest. we are getting married at 4pm and then having a reception and evening buffet, cutting out a meal to save costs. :) x

21st October 2011 will be the best day of my life!!!
