    Hello!!!

So, 4 weeks before the Wedding and I'm thinking of sacking my florist and doing the flowers myself??!!

When we announced our date, one of our neighbours who's Mum is a florist said they'd pay for my bouquet as a present to us??
    Happy days!!!

I ordered 4 button holes and 4 wrist corsages with her too.
For the last few months I've asked for a price on the button holes and corsages.
Last week I asked 3 times, how much??
    And, still no price??

I'm now really fed up with it all so have decided to do them with the help of my MOH the day before the Wedding!!!

So, I'm looking for hints and tips to make them look GREAT!!
I will be using fresh flowers

    :-)

I understand you frustration but I strongly advise against making buttonholes day before wedding, I'm a florist and for my wedding I'm using cymbidium orchids which I know will stand 48 hours out of water. Flowers such as roses and carnations will not and will be dead before you even have your dress on

Ahhhh, I didn't think of that??
So, should I make them on the morning??
With my bouquet I shall be having the stems exposed and will leave it in water over night, will this be ok??
Will it be ok to buy the flowers the day before for the buttonholes and corsages??

Do you have anymore tips please MrsStorey2B??

    :-)

Have you thought of using foam/silk flowers instead? then you can make them up way before the wedding, theyre half the price of real flowers and look just as good?
Im using foam roses for my bouquets and buttonholes and my mums kindly said she'll make them all up for me xx

    Great Idea Jade!!!

I'm quite a creative type of person and have done some flower arrangements before??
So, how hard could it be :-/ !!!!!

I've just had enough of not getting a straight answer.
Our neighbours are getting Married 6 weeks after us so you'd of thought her going through the same stress as me she'd be even more sympathetic and let me know the price??

At least if I do it myself I can be proud of my work??!!

    :-)

Have you ladies made buttonholes or corsages before, reason I ask is its not a five min job and there are skills actually involved in making these designs. I went to collage for four years to become a qualified florist, it really is not a case of picking a few flowers from tesco and having a play with them. The reason wedding flowers are "costly" is because we don't use the same grade flowers you find down tesco we order high grade flowers from our wholesalers weeks in advance to collect your wedding week. They need to be conditioned before you can even touch them. Also your considering making them the morning of your wedding, even as a qualified florist who knows what I'm doing no way would I have time to make buttonholes and corsages the morning of my wedding.

We did our bm bouquets in foam and table decs in foam ( got a great place ill put a link on your wall). Me and my mum has had no experience with this b4 and I think we've done a better job than the ones you can buy. I'm getting my flowers from the florist as I've ordered something really different :) if you have a practice you'll know either way if you can do it or not :)

I've made buttonholes before and did a brides bouquet last year.

MrsStorey2B,I can completely understand that the flowers are a far better quality at a florist, that florists have had extensive training and it's not a case of just putting some flowers together until they look pretty!!

Yes, I will have time to do the flowers on the morning as wearing minimum make up and wearing my hair down both of which I will be doing myself!!!

Flowers have never been that high on my list of things for the Wedding so if they only last until photos have been taken I'm not that bothered??
Knowing me, I'm likely to sit on them at squash them anyway!!!
