It's getting to that time when I want to think about making a table plan. We have 8 tables of about 8 people each and I need a bit of help.

Does the layout of the table plan match the layout of the room?
Do you list people in any particular order?
What happens if a guest changes after I've printed the list or do I wait till last minute?
How big should the plan be?

Any other advice would be great too. For instance my SIL made hers too early and it started to bend and curl so I definately waiting longer than she did!

    Hey

Making my table plan is on my list of jobs to do today, so as you can see I have decided to leave it until a bit later to make sure that the guest list is as final as possible and also to try and prevent any damage. I am going to try to do it so that it roughly mirrors they lay out of the room, but if that's difficult don't think it'll be the end of the word if it doesn't, as the tables will all have names or numbers anyway. I'm printing out individual pieces of card for each table and am not worrying about order I list names in for each table.

I was wondering how to do it and found that some stationers sell A3 size foam boards, and then I found some wrapping paper that matches the bridesmaid's dresses (pale green with cream polka dots!) so am going to put that over the board and then print on cream card with a black border for each table and stick that over the wrapping paper....hope that helps! xx

Ooh wrapping paper! That sounds like thrifty idea. Our colours are teal and silver and it's so expensive to find card etc in those colours.x

We finished our with about 2 weeks to go. We did have some last minute changes, but we didn't do it all again, just told the people concerned what the changes were xx

i have done a rough copy on paper i sat one member of each family on each table it was the only way i could do it my partners family is a broken family and massive and most dont speak to each other so i was very cautious doing it thats why i have done a rough copy before i print it properly in a few weeeks

OK so I have decided what I want but I don't know how big it should be. We only have 8 tables and when I looked at A1 paper today it just looked absolutely massive. What size are they usually? I was thinking A2 but couldn't find anything that size.

I would actually suggest A3. That should be plenty big enough and like you i will have 8 tables so am using that size too

Was just wondering if A3 looked a bit titchy on a big easel in a big venue but then I suppose a massive board with loads of space will look just as silly.x
