I am looking for a make-up in the Somerset area and getting some quotes but if it is too expensive then i'll just do my own as not too bad at it anyway and dont want to spend a fortune out.

    Just had the below quote:

Bridal make up (including trial (2 hrs) 6 wks before) and make up on the day(including champagne on your wedding morning) £180
As above but Bride plus 1 (Head bridesmaid / mother of the bride) £250
Flower girls FREE (shimmer and gloss)
Make up trial (as part of your party) £25
Bridal party make up on the day £30

Seems massively expensive to do my makeup for an hour as be 1 hour for trail and 1 hour on the day so £90 an hour. What do you all think?

I might try local hairdressers instead and see if they know anyone xxx

I thought so too - i emailed her back saying 'Thanks for getting back to me... your prices seem very high to me and i have had quotes for a lot less !! Thanks anyway, Amelia.' and her reply was 'Ok no problem - usually you get what you pay for in my experience.' but surely make up is make up and she isn't coating my face in gold so cant charge that much?! xxx

I could probably do as good job as anyone anyway but fancied someone else doing it for me instead as a treat but if it is mega expensive then i would rather use the money for something else and do my own.

My bridesmaid is a hairdresser and also does eye lashes so she will be saving me money there and my nail technician is doing my nails as a present for being a valued customer for 2 years xxx

That includes one trial of both hair and make up.
Her name is Clare and she is based about 20 minutes from Yeovil if that is any good to you?? She does just make up as well.

I am just doing my own makeup. I had a couple of trials and didn't like any of them. All the 'artists' seem to have their own set way of doing bridal makeup and none of mine seemed to listen when I told them what I wanted. I wanted neutral light makeup round my eyes and they kept putting dark browns and coppers on which does not suit my skin tone.

So I decided I can do better myself and am practicing whenever possible with hints and tips from Youtube tutorials.

I will be doing my own make up on the day as I cant justify spending that kind of money. I did have a couple of make up consultations at the french make up counter in debs, I told her that I was there for tips and ideas for on my big day and that I would buy a couple of items from her. I've been there 3 times, she's given me loads of advice and tips, I have only bought my eyeshadow and foundation from her, and she even offered to put time aside for me to go in and practice my make up in front of her nearer to the day so that she can tell me where I am going wrong, if i do. Since the trials, every time I do my make up, I do it how she showed me but just using different colours each time so that people dont see me in my 'wedding make up', I feel really confident in doing it now, its really helped. xx

Thats a good idea Iabelle... my mum worked for Body shop years ago and she is not too bad with a make up brush but she didnt want to do my wedding makeup incase i didnt like it but i may just go into the shop and get a trail done and buy everything from there as only use their make up anyway.

Im luckly im not paying for hair as bridemaid is a hairdresser xxx

Talking about body_shop make up. you could book a body_shop at home party and request a make over they bring their kit to you and you can make an eve of it with the girls, and the more sales you make the more hostess rewards you could get which you could use to get the make up from THE body_shop either free or cheaper. just an idea x

sorry me again just thought id mention most body_shop consultants do that job in particular because of flexible hours/ money perhaps if you liked the make up she does you could offer a small price for her to do it for the wedding too x
