    Hi ladies

As my name tag suggests, I am a bit of an organised bride and finding a make up artist is one of the only few things left on my list to do

I am aiming for a good 3-4 months off free time at the start of this year and not have to worry about wedding stuff)

The price of a make-up artist seems to vary so so much
The last thing I want to be doing too is paying out left right & centre for trials!
I do definatley want a trial but can you imagine having the trial and it being awful, then you have to go through it all again (and pay again) for someone else!

So my question is, how much ar you paying for your make-up artist?
I want one for sure as not confident enough to do my own make up for the day
I also want one that will come to my venue on the morning of the wedding.

I have found a few but to get an idea of what you ladies have or are paying would be fab x

I have found one that is 20 for the trial and 30 on the day. I am pretty sure I will be going with her as she comes highly recommended x x

Wow that is a good price!

The one I have just found is £50 for the trial and £60 on the day!
She does use MAC, Benefit, Smashbox, Bobbi Brown, Make Up Forever and Chanel make up though so maybe that is why her prices are a lot higher?

    I have no clue!

Really, I thought they must all be about the same. I know she uses a high end make up but only think she uses one. I will be getting my nails, eye lashes etc done at the same place so I'm sure it will cost me a fortune lol x x

Thats a good price Elle! My mum's friend is going to do mine (she is a make-up artist) and at mate rates she is charging me £25 for a trial and £25 for the day, but my friend getting married next year has payed £150 altogether for her make up for the day and one trial, and this was the average price round where I am from xxx

I have found the pries to vary quite a lot
Im going to have natural nails if I can grow them all to the same sort of length and eyelashes are already long so don't need those or I shall look like I have spiders on my eyes!

Your quote has made me determined to find a lower priced one though
    Thanks for sharing x

I suppose it depends on the area as well, some areas can be expensive. My nails grow really long but I have to cut them off for work x x

Gosh it's still pricey though. I can't make up my mind whether I want to do my own or not. My mum says not to bother as she says i usually do my own make up fine - but then she is my mum so I guess has got to say that! lol. It think i might pop down to deb and hams and get a make over done- then practice doing it myself with what they use - that way i'm at least paying for the make up which I can use again rather than just for the one off on the day. Has any one else done this?

    Lizzy. x

I have booked mine, £150 for trail and on the day. I didn't really want a trial but realised its a good idea so I'm not stressed on y wedding day and timelines are stuck too in case I don't like my make up and have to start again?! Xxx

I want my make up to be lovely & special & mainly to show up on the photos as I dont think it does so much when you do it yourself
It does seem pricey but I think I will compromise on something else to have my make up done
Prob wont have it done professionally ever again!

Thing is, if you dont have someone who can recommend a make up artist, how do you know you are getting a true professional -- a good one! I really wannt mine done and will pay what I need to but worried about making sure the artist is a good one.....how have you ladies gone about this? x

You could ask them to see pictures of their previous clients. My mums friend takes before and after pictures of everyone she does so that she has them to show to potential customers so I should imagine others would do that to? It can't hurt to ask xxx

My Makeup lady is costing me £120 for my hair and makeup (incl. single lashes) and £80 for both of the BM's (makeup and lashes). The trial is £80.

We've used her before though for my sisters wedding last year so know how good she is and she actually does London Fashion Week models makeup so she is top notch and worth every penny.

The one I like is £185 (make-up only; includes trial and travel); which I think is a lot personally. But, I like her work, a lot, have seen her at work (I'd be really worried just booking based on pictures; what if I wasted loads of money on a trial and hated it?), and live in an expensive area (salons where I am charge £120, and don't travel, so I doubt I'll get it much cheaper)
