Hi all, I have just had a call from makeover London to say i have won the £800 makeover shoot They want a £50 deposit which will be refunded when i arrive for my shoot. Dont know why but have a gut instinct this is not 100% legit Can anyone advise or help me please? Thanks

Yeah, it was closed because UK bride have terminated their contract with Makeover London because of the sheer amount of complaints they were getting.
Bit concerning if people are still getting called though!

Because of the contacts that were passed over before ukbride terminated their contract some new members will still be getting calls unfortantly. As I have said ukb have terminated this contract and are rolling out an alternative over the next few months (see sticky thread free engagement shoot above).

I have already paid my £50 deposit and he has just emailed and said that he is still working with UK Bride. I was slightly concerned about it and asked him how I had won as the photography prize wasnt with them. I paid it at first as I thought that they was with UKBride, I guess there is nothing I can do about getting my money back! Im slightly annoyed as it was meant to be wedding photography! xx

Hmm, I don't think the original Makeover London thread should have been closed if there are already 2 people STILL having issues with them. I think a thread about it should be stickied warning the new members not to trust them!

Just to point out hunni makeover london is NOT J company now nor has it ever been so none of the people working there actually work for him. Your bet bet would be to try and find out there headoffice's address and complaining to them. By all means contact J about this so he knows they are still using the ukbride name and see what he can do for you but they are a 3rd party and not actually part of ukbride

I had a phonecall on tuesday to say I had won this photo shoot. The guy was incredibly pushy, wanting to know the name of the person I would take and when. Also the 50quid deposit. It was all too weird! I politely declined but he kept name dropping ukbride. I asked if i could just have the cash alternative and they said no, that it would just be gave to the next person!

im glad the contract has ended, and it still seems they dont listen to a word of advice or roll out the new changes quick enough, when will this company ever learn! its a shame there r still brides out there being contacted by these vultures and that they try and tarnish ukbrides name! well done for ending the contract and def think we should sticky this so every new member and existing can be warned!!

the mods will have a copy of the original post that got deleted as the posts dont get deleted but moved to another area. Therefore, if you did want to get trading standards involved, I am sure they could send you the info you need. Failing that, myself and another bridge have up to page 3 saved on our desk tops which has loads that trading standards would be interested in. If you go down that route, please contact me if the mods wont release the original info in the original post!

He is trying to protect the brides by terminating the contract and they are still having the cheek to use the same pitch and implicate uk b in their dodgy dealing, without ukb aware of it! Outrageous, I had a call this afternoon asking if I'd remembered entering any 'competitions' recently for a free makeover and photoshoot with Makeover London - I said no, but I was aware they were getting my details from UKBride - she faltered a bit and said it must be a different competition - I asked her to explain what the 'prize' was - and it was a free makeover with photoshoot, then a complimentary viewing session - before she even mentioned the £50 deposit I said no thank you and she just rushed and said 'ok thanks then bye' and hung up!
Crazy really seeing as she obviously didn't know I'd been already in July, had a complete sham of a day, written all about it on here a couple of times in complaint to Cameron (who ignored my story and didn't offer to give me my money back) and then rang me trying to flog the same dead horse!!!
Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!

I am waiting til Friday, which is when the REALLY pushy guy said my money would be back to me (at the latest). If the money is not in my account then and I can't get a satisfactory answer from them, I am handing over to my future BIL. He is extremely good at getting money back off people, and he already thinks that we should be going to Trading Standards. I guess I'll see what happens on Friday.

Hi, I have got my refund back AT LAST, it was a lengthy process, it took over a week of calling them and sending a letter. I finally got put through from the person who is is charge of the staff I think and the payment process. I told him that I was mis-sold the competition as I did enter a competition with ukbride but the competition I entered was not the one I had paid £50 deposit for and it was all really confusing and not honest. I was told that I could not have my deposit back as the T&Cs say it has to be cancelled within 48hours. I said it was his incompetent staff who delayed the process and didnt ring me back and passed me around the houses. It took around 15 minutes of arguing my case to get a refund! The guy who is ringing offering the competition is called michael. The number you want to ring to get your money back or make a complaint is: 02073885757. So glad I didnt go for it judging from all the bad experience everyone is having.

A little update on my dramas with this company. I have just filed a complaint with Consumer Direct (I was basically dared to by the guy I spoke to on the phone, he was awful!!). When I was still trying to reason with him I asked to speak to Cameron, but he no longer works with the company. So when I asked to speak to his replacement, or get the email address of the new person, I was refused. The finance guy said that he would go to the call centre to find out who I had spoken too (mind you, I spoke to them on a couple of occasions and they all said the same thing...I could get my deposit refunded), and get them disciplined!! But then he got me riled up, which is quite hard to do, and refused to go and speak to them as I didn't deserve it any more because I raised my voice at him! I have had my little rant, now I am going to go feel sorry for myself for a bit. I feel stupid about this, even though it is not my fault!

I am sorry for everyone who's had trouble with this company. But that last bit made me laugh - who says that in a grown up working world? "You raised your voice so you don't deserve it anymore!" This is so ridiculous it's funny.

I think if they dont ask for a deposit and its not in London you're pretty safe but I'd be weary of this place trading under other names. Its very sad that there are people out there who scam innocent folk. I know there are nasty folk everywhere you go but why can everyone just be fair and nice. I am considering becomming Amish - they all seem very content and lovely lol.

Nah there is quite a few places that do it. I know ive dont one before in manchester. We all paid a £50 deposit and it was a really good day! Like you said, Unfortuantely there are just some muppets out there that spoil it for the rest of us coz we dunno whats legit n whats not!

Hello, unfortunately, i got the call today from make over London, they assured me about deposit that it would be fully refundable, but then I read the terms and conditions it says that it will be redeemable against any purchase with them. I called them to ask back my deposit cause i was misinformed by their representative but they answered in a way that if I want to cancel my appointment, they will charge me 125£ then. I was keep on calling them for several times saying that according to Trade Standards they have to give me back my deposit within 7 days but they told me that they cannot hear anything, hello... hello.. So my question is where any possibility to get back that deposit? Did anyone try? Whom I should complaint?

I know that these are from a while ago, but I've also been ripped off and am trying to get everyone to join together against this company - please join the Facebook page ********************************************* and report this to Camden trading standards. I lost £100 over this! If we join together we can at least get them shut down!
