    Hi LAdies,
Im new to all this make up milarky. And although, i have worn it in the past, all ive ever put on as my routine is spot cover up foundation and a bit of eye shadow. But for my wedding ive cant afford to have it professionally done, and was wondering what the stages were to acheiving a flawless look. What am i meant to use first, second etc.
Note:: im allergic to mascara so will be having individual lashes & tinted for big day.
What are the best make ups to get.
    I have oily/dry skin,
    Thanks!!

I agree, go to debenhams and get some tips from the makeup counters, for your wedding day dont try and go to far away from your normal look. If all you do is some foundation and eyeshadow then get these right! maybe add some blusher and some nuetral lip gloss.
As for brands try out some different ones to find out what feels best on your skin. Mac, benifit, nars or bobbi brown are the top ones to go for, but you could look at lots of the other slightly cheaper brands.
as for how to apply it you can ask the makeup girls to go through it all with you step by step or check out the internet, alternativly do you have a friend thats good at makeup that might be able to teach you or even do it for you on the day?
    xx

Im going for a natural look ont want to look like a clown. lol.
Ive got blue eyes, whats the best colour eye shadows to go for, i usually wear like bronze, or golds. But i wanted to go for more of a champagne colour for my wedding. My sister has said she'll do my make up on the day but she has a completely different look to what i have and as said above have the fear i'll look like a joke

Just searching "bridal makeup tutorial" will give you a bunch of useful options. Pixiwoo are great British make up artists, they'd be worth a try too.

Is that about right price wise then? £45 for a trial and £105 for the wedding day for the bride?

Hmm, they also do make-up lessons - £70 for an hour.

A make up artist contacted me through this site she quoted £120 for me and 1 bridesmaid, I decided my money would be better spent going to a department store buying my own good quality makeup(mostly foundation). That way I could use it again and again instead of one day for £120, plus I could pickup free tips on how best to apply it from the makeup counter lady or youtube.

well I thought £105 for day and £45 for trial is pretty good price. If u want bridemaids and other people done aswell they offer discounts aswell. I am having mine and 1 bridesmaid and my mum and we r all having trial. I thought about the makeup lesson for 70 pounds so then I could learn to do my own makeup on the day but to be honest I would rather just have no stress and be able to relax. xxx

I went to college a few years ago & did beauty therapy.. so hopefully this will be good info for you

Make sure you moisturise well on the run up to your wedding as make up always sits better on a well moisturised face. I also have oily/dry skin & i use a clinque moisturizer, although it is quite expensive.

most proff make up artists use a primer before foundation, but i was never taught with it, therefore never used it & never felt i needed to!

next thing i would do is tackle dark circles & red patches (if you have any) there's a brilliant little compact duo from virgin make up, that had a green coloured cover up & a purple one. These are brilliant as they work with your skin pigment & hide any dark circles, spots or if your normally rosy cheeked. last time i brought it, it was £10.

Then go shopping around for a foundation, again i use clinque as i think it has coverage but if your not used to wearing make up then maybe go for a dream matte mousse as there quite light, if you go into a boots & try a few samples on your hand or on you cheeks if you can, as the colour on your face has to look right with the colour of your neck!

If you have oily skin, i use a product from bare minerals, which i think you can get from Debenhams, if not Ebay! Its a brilliant trick to take away a shine...i take it everywhere with me.

Before doing your eye make up dab a bit of loose powder on the top of your cheeks.. this will make it easier to wipe away any eyeshadow that fall on to you base makeup!

eye shadow- start with your light colour & a decent brush, cover your whole eye lid & under brow, paying particular attention to under brow. then get your darker colour & apply to the crease of eye lid, if you apply in a sidewards v action, so on eyelashes line, start in the centre & pull outwards to the corner of your eye & then move upwards to crease of the eyelid. so a bit like this < if that helps! then just blend it it. use a powder brush to just brush any excess & the loose powder you apllied to cheeks. aplly a bit of eye liner if you wanted to just on the eyelash line.

I would then use a cheek highlighter, i use benefit High beam, it helps define cheek bones. i use this on cheeks, just below temples down the cheek bone & then a bit of blusher or bonzer, whatever you prefer under the cheek bone.

& then a nice lippy or lipgloss!

    Hope that helps you! xxx

    Some great tips there!

Though I like to do my eyes before my face cause it's easier to wipe away fall out, the powder trick never works for me, it doesn't brush away it just blends in and I end up with more powder clogging up my face.

And just to add- I think it's best to stay away from too many shimmery products, stick to matt or your face may look too shiny and look oily instead of glowing. And stay away from foundation that has spf in it cause it's no good for photo's. Especially if you want a natural look. You can always use a lighter matt powder or a lighter concealer to highlight cheek bones etc.

Also brows! A powder or pencil just to fill in the sparse patches in your eyebrows can make a massive difference. I like to use a brow gel or just a clear mascara to keep them in place too.

just another quick one...I've been into boots today & they have the bare minerals kits i was on about. Bare minerals do a great start pack, with special brushes, the make up & normally a step by step guide to how to apply. its brilliant stuff & all natural. The foundation is a powder & you brush on in a circular motion & it gives such great coverage. I brought my starter pack a few years back on a trip to new york so it was quite cheap but honestly the powders last MONTHS! You usually get 2 lots of foundation, a bronzer & 2 eyeshadows & the mineral veil to cover shiny skin, all comes with the specific brushes! Great buy ladies! xxx

I'm planning on either going to boots before the wedding and getting them to show me a foundation that is my skin tone and doesn't disapear in an hour or two. Or go the morning of the wedding and get a free trial.
Will probably go for the trial then actually buy the fondation or have a trial before and one on the day (the good thing about getting married somewhere other than your home town).
