    Hi,

I am currently researching make up artists for the big day! I already have my hairdresser sorted (the one I've had since I've had hair!!) and she is doing a very very heavily discounted price for us as we're more than a client! My dad actually ran into the salon 24 years ago just to tell her that I was a girl!!

So anyways, that means a slightly better budget for make up, obviously that doesn't mean I need to spend it however, she is also qualified as a make up artist but doesn't practice it that often and would have to buy in all the make up just for me - considering I don't wear much at all I'm definitely a bit apprehensive about it, and the time frame also seeing as the ceremony is at 12pm, she will need to do my hair, my 2 BMs, FG and possibly MoB.
So realistically am I on the right wavelengths in thinking it best to find someone else to do the make up, to help her out as well as the fact they will be completely up to date, have all the essentials and right colours and what not?

Also, I completely agree with the Bride having a trial that goes without saying... but what about bridesmaids? Is that something I need to fork out for or can they just be done on the day? What are you all doing?

    xx

I've decided to have a trial for me and my bridesmaids with a hairdresser and a seperate company to do our make-up. The bridesmaid trials usually cost a lot less then the bridal trials but it's entirely up to you. I've found a company in my area that will do my hair trial for £45 and my bridesmaids for £25. My make-up trial will cost £40 and £20 for my bridesmaids. It may not be the same in your area but if you want to do it the same way as me, you might get lucky.

If you decide not to have trials, a good idea to figure out the right make up for you and your bridal party is to go into somewhere like Boots or Debenhams and use testers or have one of the make-up girls give you a free makeover.

Yeh I was thinking of taking up the whole free makeovers @ counters for the BMs and get an idea or just discuss with them & then leave it till the day... And just have my trial - I know that's important! Would also save money not having their trials! They wear more than me anyway so not as bad!
    Thanks girlies xx

I don't think they need a trial, but if any girl is apprehensive about it it would be nice to give her the option of scheduling and paying for her own trial. I know I would like to have that option.

I wont be getting them trials for make up or hair. they both have really good skin and hair and wear make up regularly and you can do pretty much anything to their hair and it will work. That and I dont really have the funds to pay for their trials, however if they wanted to pay for a make up trial I wouldnt say no xx

My best friend is getting married 8th September and i'm her bridesmaid. I paid for my own hair and make up trail as i wanted to know i would look ok on the day. I didn't feel she was rude or anything making me pay as it's my choice to have trails and with the money she has spent on my dress, accessories etc i thought it was only fair. Just hope she has the same thoughts when it's my turn to get wed lol.

I'm a hairdresser and the bridesmaids never tend to have hair trials! And the ones that do seem to come in and make there own decisions about how they want the hair and the bride gets really stressed out!! Plus on the day you can just say what you want them to have no questions askedxxxxx

When I was BM last year the bride asked if I wanted hair and make up trial but I would have to pay myself. I will be saying the same to my two adult BMs too xx

Ah yeh, I wouldn't say no if they wanted to pay for a trial for their makeup but not sure about booking them one!
One artist got back to me and said she doesn't really do anyone but the bride! Which I can understand but would be nice to get their hair and makeup done as part of their thank you gift but on the day not trials.obv if they want practice then they can pay!

My hairdresser will be doing trial for bms but doubt it'll cost much, if anything, for them tbh as charging so little for the day! X

If they're going to pay then I think fine, but I wouldn't bother if you're going to be footing the bill.

My daughter and I are having a makeover done tomorrow at Urban Decay because she is only 13 and doesn't really wear make up and I don't wear it that often. We're buying the make over and going to do it ourselves with the help of our hairdresser and MoH as she prefers to do her own make-up anyway but we are all having a trial run with our hair dos and then having them all done on the day by the same hairdresser

I got hair trials for myself, my MOH and one of my flower girls and we all had a wonderful time! I also had make-up trials for myself and my MOH but I'm not paying my make-up artist so cost wasn't a factor.

I had trial for hair and make-up but not my BMs. I said that I'd like them to be natural but not too natural and also please ask them what they like.

my hair and make up were £10 each for trials and the same for the BM's

everyone's make up is £50 on the day no matter if its bride or BM

i told my BM's if they want a trial they pay for it themselves if not then they get whatever they get on the day
