I have just had my first make up trial, and I really don't know what to think.
Day to day i usually wear black liner on the bottom lashline and mascara and thats it.
I now have full foundation, concealer, powder, blush, shadow, etc etc. She did the eyes quite dark with brown shadow to begin with but I asked her to lighten it up so now they are a dark bronze, but it still seems like quite a heavy colour for bridal makeup. I feel I need some liner on the bottom lashes as well.
I can't decide whether or not I actually like it/ don't like it/ just not used to it. My skin feels shiny to me already as well.
What do I do?! I reckon I could do just as good a job by myself. But I don't know if I want the stress. I really cannot decide if I am happy with it or not.

maybe think about booking another trial and using eyeshadow that is lighter and that your more used to? i had one in boooooots and thought id have a light pink colour and ended up trying a brown and biscuit colour. These are colours i usually wear as well. Get it right before the big day and dont let them tell you what you should have! x

Thanks girls.
Have just spent half an hour on the phone to my mum. She thinks if I don't feel comfortable, just do it myself. She said she knows I can do my own make up well, and the way I want it so that would be the best way to go. But maybe to go to a make up counter and have a consultation on the correct shade of foundation etc to use.

I think your mums right. Get some advice on some good products and just practise plenty before the day!
I think wedding make up should be all about looking like yourself but better. I don't get how wedding make up artists don't understand the "less is more" thing lol.
I totally agree with your mum, the most important bit of full make up is get the right shade of foundation, I used to get the wrong shade until I went to Deb en Hams, and she did the full make up without me asking, and I will have my make up done by cousin of OH who works for Yves Saint Laurent, I'll just by with his 60% discount the make up I need, which is top quality anyway.
Soon to be Mrs Gary Doublé
Everything is now booked
Getting really stressed and excited now

I've read that your wedding makeup needs to be about 3x heavier than what you would normally wear to look good in the photo's.
I'm going to have my makeup done but i am going to buy the makeup as i have sensitive skin.
Why dont you do a makeup triel yourself and take some pics and see how you feel about your attempt then take it from there?

Time to lose some weight so i look my best on our day!

i'm doing my own makeup because I don't wear any makeup on a day to day basis, literally nothing. So I didn't want someone slapping loads on my face when I know I won't like it or feel comfortable in it. Have a go yourself, you know what you like and what looks nice on you so who better to do it than you? xxx

It is true that certain make-up makes you look good and therefore looks good in pictures. But on what grounds does it have to be 3x heavier for photos? Make-up artists use a hell of a lot of make-up in film and on photos to model and shape the facial features. But on your wedding day you want to look like you but at your best. A good photographer can make you look good without make-up if he/she uses the light cleverly.
If a photographer tells you he needs extra make-up he's a cr.ap one.

I agree with you mum, I think you should think about doing it yourself, get loads of practice in before the day. You need to feel comfortable :)
And again, what Holly said, less is more, I'm dreading having my trial done, I hardly ever wear any make-up at most I put mascara on, and maybe eye-liner. So I really wouldn't feel happy with it being 3x heavier! as LMB said, good lighting is all you need

Thanks Ladies. You are all so lovely!
I went round the corner to the clinique counter (i live right next to a shopping mall! :D) and the girl helped me with foundation and booked me a wedding makeup practice/ lesson for monday 6th feb. So that will be fun to do :) I have never had proper lessons with make up. Learnt a few things from video tutorials and a the very basic stuff from my mum, though she doesn't wear much makeup either. It will be nice to have some proper instruction!!
Thank you for all your help. Don't know what I would do with out you ladies!
