Depends how calm you think you will feel on the wedding morning hun? I couldnt have done my own to the same standard of a makeup artist as I'm not that confident with makeup. I'm glad I paid someone to come to the house and do it for me so I could relax with the champers and be pampered with no stress. You should treat yourself if you can :) You can really tell the difference in the wedding pics to how I normally look, it was still really natural just enhanced and lasted the whole day xx

You can always ask them to use your foundation if that's what your after, they can then use there own products to do the rest of the face xx

i think the main reason i would use a make up artist is because make up has a tendancy to give a white tone to the photos. but mac are good quality products so id be tempted to do it myself and you know what suits you.

i like the idea of a make up artist for the complete relaxation etc x x

I do my own make up everyday and happy with it but on my wedding day I wanted to feel special and pampered therefore decided I would rather pay someone else to do it so I can relax and not stress out. I found my makeup lady through my photographer as he knows her from other weddings and become friends... Ask some of your wedding connection already or ask on FB or twitter for recommendations? Xxx

Why not have a go at doing your own trials? You've got plenty of time to practice doin it yourself. Plus you could into a department store and get a make over done at different counters and see if you like those, if you do you can buy the stuff, practice doing it yourself, then At least you can use all the stuff again after the wedding.

I love MAC products too when i used to live in Birmingham i had a ball to attend i went to the MAC shop in the centre of Birmingham. Not only did the girls explain how to apply the products but they had a little diy chart telling you which products to use and i what order it really boasted my confidence with make up. I'm only having a make up artist for the pampering and to have one less thing to worry about on the day.

Is the Mac counter far from you? You could always book in there on the morning of the wedding to get it done if you have enough time

4th April 2014 - I get married to my soul mate

I plan on having my done theres no way i'd be able to control the nerves enough to be able to apply it. If you don't like how they do it just tell them and I'm sure they'll do it again for you I mean it is your wedding you should expect it to be no less than perfect

I've booked a make up artist. No way would i trust myself on the morning of the wedding, i'd be too nervous lol. But it's entirely up to you, if you think you can do it then go for it. What would you prefer to do?

i dunno cuz if i dont like it and ive done it its my fault! but will probabky end up breaking down! would probably be easier and more relaxing for someone else to do it! ive had a look into it but a large proportion of make up artists by me are either booked or far too expensive x

Make up artists are expensive unfortunately :( See if any of your suppliers can reccommend one that they often work with? My make up artist is my photographer's wife lol
Also, try mobile beauticians? A lot of them do wedding make up and are so much cheaper
