There's loads of us here making our own. It all depends on what you use and the design of them, whether they look tacky or not. I think it adds a nice personal touch :-) x

Its totally up to u. If u have the time and most importantly the patience to do them urself, i'd go 4 it! Im not a very patient person tho, so i'd probably end up chucking everything in the air if they didnt go right.lol

We are making ours, or should I say I am making ours with a little help from my craft party.
They can look tacky but that takes a lot of hard work to do, you'll be fine.
Plus handmade things are getting so poplular these days, it's hard to go wrong. I think people are more likely to keep them, and it gives them something a little more special.
But they will take much longer to do. Although buying them seems too cost more.

I'm going to make my own, I put a couple of prototypes in my album, feel free to have a look. If you search online their are loads of DiY wedding websites with people making beautiful invites. I don't think it's tacky - its budget savvy - you could spend hundreds of pounds on a tacky invite i'm sure just as easily! x

sometimes you cant get exactly what you want from a company and in the end the only option is to take influences from things you have seen and incorporate them into your invites

I've made all my own stationary. Invites, table name cards, individual menus for the table, thank you scrolls, poems on cards for my guest memory book, my guest signin photo frame and for my Post Box. I used micro soft publisher to make them and added ribbon, bows and some christmassy things to some You can add ribbon, crystals, any craft items you want. I've also made all my own table decorations, name card holders and centre pieces. I dont think they look tacky at all, they are all personal and just the way I want them :) It was a lot cheaper than getting them made by someone else, and hiring or buying the decorations and centre pieces. xx

Personally I think some of the bought ones look tacky. I'm hand making my day ones then having a simpler design for the evening ones, but will be handwriting them too xx

Button Bell is right - that's why I made mine as I couldn't find the un-fussy design I wanted. Plus, making my own has saved me a fortune. xx

I think a lot of the invites available for purchase are incredibly tacky. Why don't you make a trial invite to see what it looks like and to figure out if you're comfortable making all of them yourself.

I don't think making them looks tacky, all of the invites we've received recently have been made and they've been lovely.
    We're making ours! Xx

I am not at all crafty so any invites made would look tacky. However, I have seen pics of many of the homemade invitations on here that look amazing. It all depends whether you have the time, ability and patience to make your own.

I cannot decide which to do! am tempted to try and make my own but again, not the craftiest of people, or the most patient! but if can find a good deal via someone else doing them then i'll buy them, or do half n half! Get them made & printed but put together myself kind of thing. . . not 100% sure yet!
Kind of keep putting it off! x

I'm making my own and they look lovely (well I think so anyway!) but it has taken a long time so I sort of wish I did buy them but then I don't think they would've looked as nice for our budget. If you can stand how long it takes then go for it x x

I'm making mine. Because I love creating things I'm also making the order of service, table plan and place names. My OH has said her prefers me to make things as it makes our wedding more personal.
