It doesn't bother me whether they are JC's or Primark shoes. I just think it's a little sad to sign into a forum and see someone "warning" you your wedding shoes might be naff

I have designer ones Gina, Unze, Kurt Gieger,Red or Dead to name but a few, Cant comment on Jimmy Choos because never owned a pair, have nothing against designer at all. If someone wants to spend a fortune on shoes thats their choice. but like yourself Nicole I also do have high street pairs.

I agree Melody. I also have high street shoes, and have nothing against them at all. But this thread is pathetic, basically 'warning' people that Choos fall apart, which is complete nonsense, then everyone jumps in to say they'd never spend £300 on shoes that fall apart and don't last, when they clearly have no idea what they're talking about, have never owned a pair, and are basing their opinion on a dubious weekend tabloid newspaper article. Anyone who knows anything about designer shoes know they all have soft leather soles which don't stay pristine for long, but which certainly don't fall apart and which serve their purpose even when they don't look as pretty.

I'm just sick of threads on here that are basically veiled attacks on people who can/do spend more than others. I don't start threads criticisng New Look or bay of e shoes saying they're cheap rubbish, so why the need to start a thread 'wanring' about Choos and spouting nonsense about how they're not worth the money? Why is the latter OK and not the former?

Barbie its people opinions when they say they wouldnt spend that kind of money on shoes!!!

I personally wouldnt buy shoes from bay of e or a high street retailer but yet again thats my opinion & im not critisising anyone else that does or would buy from bay of e or high street because that is maybe all their budget always for or what they are comfortable in!!

When you start spouting off about how they don't last etc etc and aren't worth it, you're not giving an opinion, you're being critical. Saying 'I wouldn't spend that much' is different to saying 'I wouldn't spend that much because they don't last'. I wouldn't spend more than £200 on an evening dress because I can't afford it, and wouldn't get enough wear out of it; but I wouldn't say 'Oh god, I'd never spend £500 on a designer dress, they just don't last' because that's rubbish

This thread has confirmed for me exactly why I rarely come on here in all honesty. I really think it's sad how as SS says this forum is so anti anything expensive. I have every respect for budget brides, I get that not everyone wants, or can afford, to spend £300 on a pair of shoes; but attacking or criticising people who do, whether openly or snidely as in this thread, is just really not on. I won't even disclose how much my shoes cost on here because I know all I'll get is snide comments; surely a wedding forum is about sharing in people's excitement however much they spend?

You don't think that having a rant about about Jimmy Choos isn't going to upset the large number of brides who have paid a lot of money for Jimmy Choo wedding shoes? Or that saying expensive shoes are a waste of money isn't going to hurt girls who've bought similarly priced brands?

It may not be an overt attack, but it's an attack all the same. If someone said that all cheap shoes were rubbish, they'd be hounded off the board, but because it's about a luxury product it seems to be fine!

Please don't be put off by that article (unless of course you plan to go hiking in your wedding shoes which I'm sure you're not) You can't beat the feeling of wearing a pair of Choos IMO, they're worth every penny :-)

If you can give me an example of where I personally attacked someone I'd be grateful; my comments were all general, not aimed at anyone specific. If people took them as a personal attack then I'm sorry, but I thought I was quite careful in keeping it general, I haven't addressed anyone by name unless responding to something specific.

I've read back through all my posts and can't find anything personal or offensive.

I have however seen comments about how the heels on JCs regularly snap and aren't designed for people over a size 10 (umm, rubbish), as well as numerous comments about not spending that kind of money on things that won't last, etc. Me and SS posted about JCs from experience, yet oddly our opinions are less valid than those from people who've never owned a pair (probably never seen a pair if they don't know what the soles are like), just because we've dared to say that actually they are worth the money and they do last, which is clearly unpopular with certain people who'd like to think they're cheap rubbish. I do have an issue with that, yes.

Someone obviously wants an argument - I've tried to make peace hun.
As I said, I was just going on what the article said. I then gave my personal opinion based on what the article said. I don't see anything wrong with that.
As I have just said to SS in private chat, it wasn't my intention to offend anyone - but someone has obviously decided to take it personally and make something more out of it than is neccessary

Kaytee: I took umbrage with you saying I've personally attacked people when I haven't. Of course you're entitled to express your opinion, but as you've said, that opinion is just based on an article. I have commented from experience, and don't get why my comments are worth less than comments from people who DON't have experience, it makes no sense.

The purpose of this thread was basically so people would respond with comments like 'I KNEW they couldn't be worth the money!' or 'I would never spend that on shoes! and they don't even LAST!' and for the most part, that's what the replies consisted of. When a couple of us contradicted that, from actual experience, it got heated; why? Because people on this thread wanted to bash Choos for some odd reason and didn't like being told differently.

I have Jimmy Choos for my wedding, they are ballet pumps for dancing in though so are rubber soles.

i also have 2 pairs of high heel Gina's, and a mid heel pair of Gina's (two pairs of which I am wearing on my wedding day) and i have already worn a high heel pair to a few weddings, and I aint a size 10 and they have been fine. You get a spare set of heel tips with these shoes, and I am no where near needing to put them on yet. The soles do look well worn now, but who cares, who sees the soles??

I dont care about the reviews, I will be wearing my lovely shoes when I get married.

I've not got any Jimmy Choos or any oher "expensive" shoes mainly because I can't really justify spending over £100 on a pair of shoes and considering we're trying to save money and not spend it and I've never really been able to afford such an expensive brand even if I wanted to.

Not saying they aren't lovely and I'd love to own a pair no matter how long or short they last, did eye up a pair last month at Selfridges but couldn't walk in them anyway as the heels were extreme. Cost is a personal choice - if you've got the money to pay for them and you want them what's the harm. Some cheap brands don't always last. I love buying rocket dogs and one pair I had needed the heel replacing 3 times since I owned them. Finally binned them as they were getting a bit tatty as I'd owned them quite a while although wore them less and less.

Wear what you want as you can afford because that's your choice not because some review said negative/positive things.

I've just read the article and it's typical Daily Mail fare; a lot of rubbish, basically. Looking at the after picture, that's exactly what mine looked at after the first few wears; and several dozen wears on, that's what they still look like. They don't need resoling, if those in the article wanted to have their shoes resoled, that was their personal choice, but I can tell you there was no need for them to have it done.

When I bought my first pair, I was terrified; I was 15, and they were for my prom. I didn't realise, being young and naive, that designer shoes had soft pale leather soles, and when I tried them on I didn't think they wouldn't stay that way long. As soon as I got them home, I started worrying, and looked into having them resoled which at the time would have cost about £10. The cobbler gave me a load of stories about how they wouldn't last, etc etc, but I decided instead to leave them as they were. Nearly 10 years on, I still wear them, and people don't believe how old they are. I have a small snag on one heel where I stupidly walked across a grate and got my heel stuck :-s Otherwise, apart from the soles now being black instead of that soft leather, they look good as new. I actually prefer the soles as they are now, as the leather basically gets hard and smooth after a couple of wears, so withstands rain etc better than when it's new and soft.

High street shoes will mark and scratch; this is no different, and doesn't harm or damage the shoes. I have never been told by a Choo shop assistant to have my shoes resoled, because it's just not necessary.

I have Choos and Ginas as my wedding shoes, and wouldn't have dreamed of wearing anything else.

I find all shoes never last!

If you can justify spending a months rent on a pair of shoes then go for it but i think most of us would not.
We would find something more needed to spend it on.

I know we all need shoes, I dont think i have spent more than £40 on a pair of shoes, i think the one time i did the were ruined that night!!!

I love shoes but have never been able to justify spending a lot of money because I'd actually rather have quantity and can't afford quantity and quality. However I intend to splash out for my wedding on a special pair of something like a pair of JCs. I was pleased that those who have them love them and as I'm getting older (although far off old at 24) im finding myself switch from quantity to quality. Could never wear an expensive pair to work though. I'm a chemistry teacher and a lot of my clothes have got acid splashes and holes on them!

Kat: I work at a supermarket so all my work shoes are strictly high street, no more than £40; bought 4 pairs on Sunday for £80 so pretty chuffed!

I agree with quality vs quantity. A few years ago, I'd buy at least 10 pairs of shoes, probably more, a year, paying maybe £30 for each pair. They'd get worn once, hurt, and not see the light of day again. About 3 years ago I started treating myself to JCs and Ginas in the sale; I buy about 2 pairs a year, costing up to £200 a pair. I wear them all the time, and have got rid of loads of pairs of shoes that I never wear. I won't splash out unless they're a) comfy and b) versatile, so all my pairs are black or silver as they go with pretty much everything, and I don't get super-high ones unless they have a platform (I do have 5 inch Ginas though which I can wear all night and which are comfortable; result!)

I'm starting to do the same with clothes and bags; I'd rather spend a bit more on a versatile, practical, durable leather bag for instance, than a lot less on a cheap synthetic bag that won't last and doesn't look as classic.

Kat: I usually buy in the sale as prices as reduced by up to 50% (JC), and 70% (Gina). Also check out department stores, inc online, as they stock a wide range of designers; Manolo do some lovely coloured shoes, as do Aruna Seth. Just be aware with sale items that there's limited stock and sizes, as they only make limited numbers of shoes; so if you have your heart set on something, be prepared to pay full price if you really want them and don't want to gamble. I've paid full-price for both my pairs of shoes as I really really wanted them and didn't want to chance not being able to get them; plus they're what's called 'classic' styles (ie they make them all the time), and they rarely go into the sale.

ladies ladies .......lets be nice please ...what someone will pay for a pair of shoes is all relative ...... i am heading out to Vegas next week and while im there will be looking for both pairs ofshoes for my weddings ......i Will be going to Choos (who incidently is actually a women) and to Blahniks i will also look in the little boutiques ....and the shoes i buy will be the ones that i love regardless of the price so wether they cost me $400 or $40 i happy to pay what ever if they are the ones that makes me happy.

We all have different budgets and different tastes .......i wouldnt have considered paying over £500 for my dress that i will wear for one day but would pay for good comfortables shoes that i will be able to wear again.

As long as you have the shoes that you are happy with price is irrelevent
